Have fun this season. We need Chris Farley back so he can do his SNL Bears skit. He'll have a heart attack every time Rex attempts a pass.

Being a resident of Denver, Broncos (http://www.denverbroncos.com/).  But then I have been a fan since long before Elway Wigs.  When people like Morton, Turner, Moses and Little played for them.  When they were so bad, we still loved them here.  And back to when Elway sucked.  Been watching them a long time.

Seahawks. Jeeze did they melt down Sunday against Arizona. Sheesh.

My real passion is college football. I have season tickets to the WSU Cougars, which means a 10-hour round-trip drive to Pullman four or five times a year. Great fun.

Already looking forward to it.  Problem is we already know who's winning the division, let alone the super bowl.

I don't get how Brady and Moss can be on the same team.  It's unfair...

It's cheating.

Three football fans from California were out for a ride when one noticed a foot sticking out of the bushes by the side of the road.

They stopped and discovered a nude female, passed out drunk.

Out of respect and propriety, the Forty-niners fan took off his cap and placed it over her right breast. The Chargers fan took off his cap and placed it over her left breast. Following their lead, but with some grumbling, the Raiders fan took off his cap and placed it over her girly part.

The police were called and when the first officer arrived, he conducted his investigation. First he lifted up the Forty-niners cap, replaced it and wrote down some notes. Next, he lifted the Chargers cap and replaced it, writing down some more notes.

The officer then lifted the Raiders cap, replaced it, then lifted it again, replaced it, lifted it a third time and replaced it one last time.

The Forty-niners fan was becoming annoyed and asked, "What are you, a pervert or something? Why do you keep lifting and looking, lifting and looking?"

"Well," said the officer, "I am just simply surprised. Normally, when you look under a Raiders cap... you find an asshole."

Also glad for Seattle beating Cincinatti, imagine my father's joy when he heard it on the television.

And why is it 3rd quarter and both Dallas and Chicago are tied and 10 each?

Just from looking at the score right now that doesn't seem likely. 24-7 is a lot of points when you're in 3rd Quarter.

Well, they did give us Monty Python and Benny Hill. ;)

Ah, but the brilliant works of these Old Masters are on dvd.

I have watched.  But I barely laughed.  Comedy works in one direction for me: what's fresh and new.  Most comedians inspired by these old masters use many of their techniques anyways so when watching the originals its like I am watching something unoriginal and boring.  Know what I mean?

Sorry to knock them, I applaud their brilliance, its just my young tastes have trumped it.   :-[

However I have watched the Mel Brooks when I was young (space balls and history of the world part 1 are my favorites) so I still have some appreciation for the old.   :)

Or maybe I just don't like British comedy... *me shrugs*

Week 7

Baltimore @ Buffalo
Arizona @ Washington
Chicago @ Philadelphia
Pittsburgh @ Denver
Atlanta @ New Orleans
San Francisco @ New York Giants
New England @ Miami
Tennessee @ Houston
Tampa Bay @ Detroit
Kansas City @ Oakland
New York Jets @ Cincinnati
St. Louis @ Seattle
Minnesota @ Dallas
Indianapolis @ Jacksonville (Monday Night)

I'll say this right now, St. Louis is probably already dead in the water. Got any other bets on who wins?

Yay, Denver won!!

As for tonight, the Colts will probably beat the Jaguars, for those who are watching ESPN now and it'll be two teams in the whole league with a perfect record thus far.

Title: Patriots!
Post by: daedalus 2.0 on October 25, 2007, 05:43:45 PM
There is only 1.5 teams in the NFL now.

Patriots and, I guess, the Colts.

Indianapolis Colts  6-0
Points for: 193
Points against: 95
TD's:22

New England Patriots  7-0
PF: 279
PA: 120
TD's:36

Nov. 4 is going to be the only game of the season and all games after will be the Patriots exhibition on going 18-0 and winning the Super Bowl.

Not to jinx it or anything....

Seriously, though, Brady and the Pats seem unstoppable. With Welker and Moss they have all the offense problems fixed and two running backs that have shown they can do the job.

Now, if Brady gets hurt.... :-\

Onion Sports: Patriots Stunned By Mere 17-Point Victory   Oct. 11, 2007
By Onion Sports

BOSTON -- The Patriots organization is reeling this week following their narrow 34-17 victory over the lowly Browns, taking stock of their game-planning methods, philosophy, and indeed their entire season in the aftermath of a game in which they gained barely more than 500 total yards, came within seconds of failing to cover the spread, and scored only twice as much as their opponent.

"I think it's too early to call the season a failure," said visibly shaken Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who was called into the office of owner Robert Kraft Monday morning and officially placed on probation in light of the insufficiently dominant victory. "I wish to extend my deepest apologies to the Patriots fans and ask them to continue supporting the players and the team. All the blame for Sunday's victory has to lie with me."

Practices have been subdued and intense this week as players struggle to adjust offensive and defensive schemes that were unable to put the Browns away until late in the first quarter, produced a scant 4.4 yards per rush -- only 0.6 yards over the league average -- and had to rely on two interceptions and a fumble recovery to finally go up by more than 10 points.

"I have to take my share of the blame," said quarterback Tom Brady, who has already drawn moderate criticism this season for throwing only three touchdowns in each of the Patriots' games so far. "With two minutes left in the fourth quarter, I missed [tight end] Kyle [Brady] in the end zone. Any other greatest quarterback makes that touchdown pass and we win by 24 -- not outstanding, but at least it would have given us some pride in the locker room. As it was, we couldn't look each other in the eye."

Although Belichick has refused to discuss personnel moves, Patriots insiders say that benching Brady for next week's game against undefeated Dallas was a definite possibility. All-pro tight end Ben Watson, who only scored twice against the Browns and struggled to produce a 106-yard performance, will almost certainly lose his starting job. Backup running back Samuel Morris managed only 102 yards on 21 carries and is generally acknowledged to be finished in the NFL. And wideout Randy Moss, held to only 49 yards, is almost certain to be traded by next week.

"It was probably my worst game as a pro," said linebacker Junior Seau, who was almost invisible for the whole game, only able to intercept a total of two Derek Anderson passes all game and none in the second half. "Not that I was alone out there. Randall [Gay] only recovered one fumble for a touchdown. And I hate to call out the other unit, but there were a couple of times when the offensive line almost gave up their fourth sack of the season."

"I've tried so hard to build a culture of winning here, and this is the kind of win we get," Belichick said at a post-practice press conference Wednesday. "This team has so much wrong with it, it's hard to believe we've managed to only lose zero games."

Buffalo was the upset pick for this week.  How the hell is beating the Jets an upset?

Pats are going to spank Washington although I will not be surprised if jaws drop during the game cuz the Skins defense is nasty.

But it would be nice to see the two only undefeated teams in the NFL, get to duke it out again like last year...assuming both win this week.

The Pats now stand alone. They have a bye and then Buffalo.
Then a stretch of trouble: Philly, Pittsburgh and Baltimore. After that, they have clean sailing until. possibly, the Giants at the end of the season.

I for one, would be happy for a perfect season, but more happy for a Championship.  Obviously, both would be ideal.

I gotta say that I love the Faith in the Pats you guys have, but I get worried with that little stretch. Even Miami in their perfect season had a few squeakers that could have gone the other way.  True, those teams aren't what they've been in the past, but I expect one of them to lay it all out, possibly even just trying to whack Brady. Indy almost had them and any NFL team has a potential to win (I hear...)

And remember, its getting into the nasty weather time of year. One windy/sleeting day could take Brady out of the mix and give a good running team a chance.

Either way, I'm going to love how this narrative plays out.

BTW, are the Colts done? Little girls... booo hooooo.....!!

I was worried for a while, but I enjoyed the game - especially the outcome.  I'm worried most about Baltimore and Pittsburgh. After that, we are going to have easy sailing until the NYG, but if they only need one more game to be perfect, I pity the NYG.  Of course, though, Bellichek may use the second string for some of the game to keep them healthy for the Post Season.

Anyhow, its all speculation.

Maybe Baltimore ends the perfect season and we just wait for the playoffs. And maybe pigs will fly... hahahaha :-) /jk

btw, Big D and GB are looking tough. I know the Pats crushed D, but you never know.  I see a DAL/NE SuperBowl, with GB losing to D in the NFC Champship.  The AFC Champship will probably be IND/NE.

Well I would imagine the death penalty or life in prison would suffice. What makes his 'murder' so special?

"I know how I feel about Taylor, and this latest news isn't surprising in the least, not to me. Whether this incident is or isn't random, Taylor grew up in a violent world, embraced it, claimed it, loved to run in it and refused to divorce himself from it. He ain't the first and won't be the last. We have no idea what happened, or if what we know now will be revised later. It's sad, yes, but hardly surprising." - Michael Wilbon

From what I heard, he actually tried to get away from that lifestyle.

So that means he was lying about it? Any evidence?

There were stories long before this happened saying that he was getting out. I know everybody would love it if he was just another thug, but sorry, it didn't happen like that.

I'm sorry, but your hearsay really isn't worth a whole lot.

Anyways, this shouldn't even be big news. As I always say, we've got soldiers dying over in Iraq. Where's their light?

Title: Re: Official NFL Thread
Post by: micfranklin on November 28, 2007, 11:45:41 AM
There's no light on that, at least from the media, because soldiers are dying every day in Iraq and it's war so that's nothing new. As for this, it's not everyday that Pro-football players get killed in their own homes.

Get off your moral high ground. What bothers me about this is that people like you just dismiss it as another thug being shot down. Who cares, right? What a great way to show young black America that nobody cares and they can just gun each other down. I'm sure that will solve a bunch of problems.

By the way, this is the Sports & Entertainment section. There's a reason we're not talking about Iraq right now, ya dig?

AHAHAHA

I don't see where I'm endorsing his shooting or saying "yeah thats right all of you little african amercians, shoot the people you don't like". I'm simply saying he was entangled in that world, so it isn't a surprise. Whether or not he was still involved, no one will be able to say for sure. But in that type of world you join on your feet and leave in a body bag. The same tends to apply to the Mafia.
I don't see where I told you "Talk about the dead soldiers in this section". I didn't. Pull your head out of that special place.

And I don't see how I'm on a moral high ground. I'm simply telling you the way it is. Quit your crying.

Calling somebody a thug who tried to leave the world he was brought up in isn't "telling me the way it is". It's just you saying, "whatever, he's a thug". If once a thug always a thug, what would lead people like him out of that kind of life?

I've already read the above article and it's all hearsay. Nothing has been proven.

You leave through a body bag or a witness protection program (more prevelant in the mafia, but it could apply)

And yes, you are being told

Not to rub it in, mic, but your Ravens need to be bitched slapped.

Quote
Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs on officiating: "Everybody is kind of cheering for them to go undefeated and break all the records. They called them the greatest offense on earth. So who knows? ... They made one more play than us and they got a little help."

Suggs on the timeout attributed to the Ravens, which gave New England another chance on fourth down after Baltimore appeared to stop Tom Brady short on a sneak: "You only get a few times to really get the NFL's poster boy in that type of situation. I don't know. It looked like all 22 men on the field played as if no timeout was called. But if it was called, it was called. I don't get into that part of the game. I just do my job."

Suggs on officiating: "It's kind of the feeling of the 2001 tuck rule. It kind of feels like the tuck rule. That is the NFL for you, man. When they got a guy like that that is selling a lot of tickets, you want to keep him selling tickets."

Ravens linebacker Bart Scott on the timeout: "I didn't hear a timeout. That was very convenient."
