Title: What about political movies? Post by: DIEGO on March 23, 2008, 06:44:03 AM I don't know if this post suits in General Politics but here I go...
I have just seen a movie by Otto Preminger called "Advise & Consent" and I thought that it could be nice to make a little post to recommend political movies. In my opinion, "Advise & Consent" is a must seen movie which has a pretty interesting plot that includes intrigue, struggle for power, honour, lies, ambition, ... with a very good cast of characters and impressive performance as, for example, Charles Laughton (Seab Cooley - South Carolina senator) who has one of the main roles of the movie. Probably most of you have also seen it but to those who haven't, "Lions for lambs" is focused on the Iraq-"terrorism" thing and it is divided into 3 different parts: first, interview with a republican senator (T. Cruise); second, dialogue between a teacher (R. Redford) and one of his best students ("Dead poets society" style); and third, war scenes by two Robert Redford's past students...
In my opinion, this movie could be perfectly signed by an European director because political direction is pretty close to main thinking about Iraq war in Europe.
