Title: Change Post by: neue regel on August 19, 2008, 06:59:40 AM The REAL change candidate, I'm now convinced, was Ron Paul. To hear him speak is to hear a politician who is NOT bound by special interest, thus, speaking from the heart.
I wish he'd been given more of a chance by the media and not lampooned. Title: Re: Change Post by: gommi on August 19, 2008, 07:45:44 AM I wish he'd been given more of a chance by the media and not lampooned. Many wish he was, though the corporate media views libertarianism as unrealistic or fringe at this time. American conservatives seem to prefer gradual change rather than Ron Paul's radicalism. Title: Re: Change Post by: neue regel on August 19, 2008, 08:16:11 AM Everyone seems to rally around the idea of change. Paul puts it out there EXACTLY what kind of change we need, and I, for one, tend to agree with him.
Maybe he's too old to sell it. Title: Re: Change Post by: And Justice For All on August 19, 2008, 08:17:33 AM I agree he was my number one choice, but of course reason cannot prevail in this country anymore.

It seems like now, it's the best dressed, nicest hair, fanciest speech, fewest 'gaffes', fewest scandals...American Idol presidential races. yippee!! Title: Re: Change Post by: And Justice For All on August 19, 2008, 08:40:50 AM Yeah today I heard on the news that whoever has the better running mate is going to win the election. So now the main person running doesn't even matter? It's really amazing the reasons that people vote for certain people or cling to certain parties their entire life. The two party system does this country no justice.

Title: Re: Change Post by: Patton on August 19, 2008, 09:12:39 AM Listening to him talk, I found myself wondering if he forgot to take his meds....only because some of the things he advocated.....like eliminating the IRS and other beauracracies......he seemed to go from A-Z without telling you how to get there....like what is B? C? D?.....what are the actual steps in eliminating the IRS....where does funding for the government come from then? You close the doors on the IRS on Jan 1st....what happens Jan 2nd?
I never heard him answer these questions when pressed. Same people who have a problem with John McCains age seem to not have a problem with Paul's. ??? He had ideals but no practicality. Again, he is too radical to be mainstream. Title: Re: Change Post by: neue regel on August 19, 2008, 09:58:42 AM I saw an incredible interview on youtube with John Stossel. It has 6 parts and Paul is able to touch on a ton of issues and flesh them out a bit. Paul is absolutely right...whenever the government steps in to try and help, they make a bigger mess than the original.
I highly recommend it. Title: Re: Change Post by: Gojira on August 19, 2008, 11:57:52 AM I saw an incredible interview on youtube with John Stossel. McCain's had skin cancer on his face and one of the most awkward smiles. Then everyone started talking about how he would be the best candidate so I started to find out more about him. The more I listened to Ron Paul the more I realized he is an idiot. I always wondered why he ran on the Republican ticket rather the democratic one where his views seem to be more in line with. Get rid of the IRS, stop printing the dollar (and adopt the euro?), get rid of defense alliances, his ideas are off the wall and will put us in third world status quicker than you can imagine. He is an isolationist and does not realize that what happens in this world affects us all no matter how much you try to stay out of it. No Sir, No Ron Paul for me send this guy to the nuthouse

No Sir, No Ron Paul for me send this guy to the nuthouse He didn't run on the Dem ticket because he is not a Dem. It is not a position of my party that a Congressman should be telling us what the Constitution means, and his particular interpretation of it is hogwash in any party. He opposed the war on one of his rigid, unrealistic, pointy-headed principles, not because it was just a stupid idea.
