Last week the Michigan Messenger reported that

"The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County, Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP’s effort to challenge some voters on Election Day."

This week the Michigan Messenger reported that ...

"Republican leaders have since disavowed plans to use foreclosure lists as part of their plan to challenge the eligibility of some voters, but an attorney for the party, Eric Doster, did confirm that the party would use returned mail to challenge voters based on residency. As veteran Republican activist Allen Raymond told Michigan Messenger in a recent interview, holding down Democratic turnout is a key part of Republican strategy for victory in November."

These are ordinary decent Americans who have fallen on tough times. They do not need mean-minded dirty tricks  from the Republican Party.

This is further evidence of John Mc Cain's disconnect from ordinary Americans and further proves the fallacy of his promise for change.

I think making sure someone is voting the proper precinct is a fairly good idea. Democrats have, from time to time, had dead people vote for their candidate so making sure everything is done properly seems in line.


Making sure someone shows up to the right polling place is not a 'dirty trick'. It's called 'rule' - elections have 'rules', alGore-esque protests, notwithstanding.

 This is another example of republicon elitism. If someones house is forclosed on its likely that they are middle or working class. Given their situation they are highly likely to vote Democratically These scum repiglicons will do any under handed tricks to gain a margin. They are dispicable.

I'm not sure that making sure rules are abided by would qualify as 'under handed', though. I also am not sure that middle class/working class people are 'highly' likely to vote Democrat. I don't think the demographics would back that up.

The GOP doesn't vote the graveyard? That's soley a Democrat ploy?

Partisans are funny.

Oh my God! Voter fraud! And this time it's the Republicans. Next week it's the Democrats!

Give it a rest, people!

I've never heard Republicans stuffing the box in such a fashion, but I'm sure it's possible. I've never heard Republicans handing out cigarettes either, but I'm open to the idea they have as well.

The larger point is that trying to make sure the rules apply is not a mean idea...which is the point of OP.
