Title: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: Totino on November 16, 2008, 07:24:29 PM Turkish inmate escapes jail in cardboard box, Solid Snake approves
Quote We've all heard that life imitates art -- but we rarely hear of instances of life imitating video games (LARPing events notwithstanding). However, a certain 42-year-old Turkish citizen who recently decided to end his seven-year prison sentence prematurely must have been a sizable Metal Gear Solid fan -- using a five-foot by four-foot cardboard box set aside for stationary shipment, the Turk (whose name has yet to be revealed to the media) effectively mailed himself out of a German prison. Police expect that the once-incarcerated man, who is still at large, had help both on the outside and the inside, though his fellow prisoners are remaining tight-lipped about his Solid Snake-esque evacuation. One of his accomplices reportedly spoke to authorities about the former inmate's other escape tactics -- one involved distracting his jailers with a bevy of nudie mags, while another required the man to wait for the prison's night guard to inexplicably announce his fatigue to his captivated audience. http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/15/turkish-inmate-escapes-jail-in-cardboard-box-solid-snake-style/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7730018.stm Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: Abraxas on November 17, 2008, 10:02:06 AM Sounds more like "Looney Tunes"... or all the times Garfield tried to mail Nermel away.
Either way, the article is awesome for mentioning LARPing :D !!! Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: illy on November 17, 2008, 07:54:34 PM a five-foot by four-foot cardboard box set aside for stationary shipment
Damn. That's a lot of stationary. I guess you'd need that much if there wasn't anything to do but read, write and lift weights. Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: gommi on November 21, 2008, 08:33:06 PM Ahh, Metal Gear Solid. What a great game series. Has anyone here played any of them?

Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: Totino on November 22, 2008, 06:45:57 PM I've played them all
Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: gommi on November 23, 2008, 08:33:10 AM I've played them all Which one did you like the best? I thought the story was really good throughout the entire series, though Snake Eater and MGS4 obviously have the most refined gameplay mechanics. Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: Totino on November 23, 2008, 02:34:47 PM I really enjoyed the original. I'd have to play them all again though to make that judgment. It has been ages since i played the first 3. I did beat MSG4 with my mates in 2 days though.

You're ALIVE! Good to hear from you again... Title: Re: Turkish inmate escapes jail with Metal Gear Solid tactics Post by: micfranklin on December 07, 2008, 09:49:37 PM Yea it's been months.
On another note I see those Eagles made some noise in Giants Stadium today. On another note I see those Eagles made some noise in Giants Stadium today. I missed the game, but my room mate's a Giants fan :evil grin: ... I still have no faith in McNab, though. I used to like him... but we can't have a QB that only likes to play when he wants to. Glad to see Westbrook back, though.
