Title: Official MLB Thread
Post by: neorealist on September 04, 2007, 09:13:04 PM
So what are your predictions?

I'm hoping that my Cubs make it in and if we do of course we are going all the way, but if we don't make it...I'm calling an Angels Mets world series with the Angels winning it all.

but if my cubbies make it its going to be the cubs over the red sox.

Not all sports can be as popular as soccer, I mean footbal, or futball, or when-the-other-team-is-better-than-you-just-fall-down-like-a-wuss....ball.

why don't you kick a ball down a field and only score once in 2 hours....exhilarating.

I just like messing with Cubs fans. It brings me joy. Like flowers or long walks on the beach.

Dempster blows. I got rid of that dude on my team by week 2. One night he had an ERA of like 128 or something.

considering that tickets aren't for sale yet (even to season holders), no, not yet.

But I did have a meeting the VP of Dback baseball operations, and the Dback marketing director.  I got to meet the CEO, but he didn't say much to me.

I will be asking for 2-4 ticket ;) or 1 if thats all I can get.  Unfortunately, I will not be allowed to wear any cubs clothing, but I will still be cheering.

I got 6 bleachers tickets for the NLDS game 1 here in AZ.  I need a Dbacks win and a Padres win to see my cubbies down here...or I need a loss by Philly and New York.

otherwise I might watching the Dbacks play Philly or New York <<yawn>>

The Rockies have won thirteen of their last fourteen, and considering that they are at home, I got them beating the Padres, who were swept by Colorado last weekend.

I heard it was an outstanding game.  The irony is that the Avs ended last season like the Rocks did this year.  On a HUGE tear.  The Avs just started to late to make the playoffs.  At least the Rocks started early enough...

So I went to the cubs spring training game on Friday vs the Giants.  I also had the chance to walk to the Padres Mariners game on Sat.  I couldn't believe how cheap lawn seats are here...$5-$7.  Its more expensive to get a beer at Hohokam Park than a ticket...I am really beginning to love Arizona.  It was a lovely 84°F on Friday at the cubs game and 87°F on Sat. at the Padres game.

Go cubs go

I just got back from the game today...He's the best young prospect we have in our bullpen.  There is talk that he will be our closer this year.  Either him or Wood will get the spot.  IMO put Wood in there until he blows a few games then put in the young guy.  I'm very glad we have Marmol this year.  We are looking pretty good so far IMO.

good move!

Caught the A's Mariners game today....great time, but boring game.  I got Aaron Cunningham to throw me a ball in the 7th...front row right center field.  I also heckled the Chris Dalorfian for until he made a diving catch.

Good I love baseball.

I had three drinks (24ouncers) at the game...I was a little tipsy, hence the poor written communication...LOL.

You gotta love when you go back and read a post and think....WTF was I trying to say.

Orioles lost to the Rays, go figure. Opening day is always the biggest, most exciting day before everything goes to pieces in Birdamore.

dude...its only two games in

I caught the Royals once for preseason...If I remember correctly they beat up on the mariners pretty bad that game.  I couldn't recognize many players on the team though...the Royals have a lot of no names right now, but maybe that will change if they shape up.

Talk to me about in another month.

And the Cubs...

Maybe no names to you, but I know a lot about these guys, and they are ready.

BTW, it's nice to have Alex Gordon (1 HR), Joakim Soria (1 SV, and 3 SO in 1 inning to day - which wasn't a save because we were up by more than three), and Brian Bannister (7 IP, 0 ER, 4 K against the best MLB lineup) on your fantasy team.

and the cubs what?  Have a bunch of no names?  GMB bro.

I understand its your team and they aren't no names to you but they are to the rest of the country...names like D. Lee, K. Wood (who is old and sucks no especially after blowing our season opener) A. Soriano...Do I need to go on?

No, I meant how are the Cubs doing?

Just giving you shit. It's funny though - nobody realizes that Meche, Bannister and Greinke is one of the best 1-2-3 combos there is right now. And Soria is a mean fucking closer. People are saying he might be the next Rivera (not just KC people, but guys like Steve Phillips).

Add that to solid offensive guys barely into their careers (Gordon, Butler), a proven hitter (Guillen), a tenacious defender and solid hitter (Teahen), an ace at SS (Pena), and a number of role players who won't hurt your team, added with a hungry manager - you got yourself a ball club.

what are you talking about?  He's got an ERA of 3?
I don't know why you are getting all cocky about your team....u do realize there are over 170 games left, right?

I'll be honest, KC has been so shitty for soooo long, I'd root for you guys.  You know what, KC is now going to be my AL team for this season.

-much love

He's on my fantasy team, I don't care about your Cubs (or how this had anything to do with the Royals).

Oh, and 3 runs + 3 innings = ERA of 9.00

how bout this one:
http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200804252587970

It looks like johnson might be better in the starting stop over Soriano.   Reed is hot right now...it'd be best not to disturb at hot bat and glove with a slow starting and injured veteran.

Happens all the time. Looks like Baltimore had the better pitcher in Game 1, but not for Game 2.
