Title: Deficit and Debt
Post by: neue regel on October 12, 2007, 12:52:41 PM
If everyone (who was able) were willing to forfeit their social security benefits, we'd have the debt paid off in a few short years. Also, if everyone were willing to forfeit a tax rebate would get us there that much quicker.

Should there be a movement for volunteers to give up these benefits?

At first I thought you were trolling for "socialist do-gooder" hypocracy then re-read your post again and see the wording wouldn't be right for that.

On that note, I don't see anyone stepping forward to forfeit benefits to pay off a debt acquired for activities they feel they had no control over.

And there's the clincher.

No one feels responsible.

If we abolished the IRS and the Federal Reserve as well as ended NAFTA/CAFTA, the FTAA, and the SPP, and got the hell out of the Middle East, we could keep all our benfits by simply charging these banks a 2% fee on all residual investment capital.  And in doing so, we would not have to worry about a retarded tax rebate check.  Which btw, is not money sent to you by the government, but rather given back to you because they stole too much!!!

Why don't you support a candidate that would end the IRS and the income tax altogether?  If taxes are so important of an issue with you?  And why in your opinion do we need a Federal Reserve Bank, a private company that charges a fee to print our money for us and then makes us pay intrest on the amount of money they do print for us?  Why do we need that?

Is there a viable candidate who is pushing that?

You don't think Ron Paul is viable?

If one is polling less than my shoe size, unfortunately, no I don't.

btw, Paul is not a big fan or the Fair tax bill...one of the many reasons I will not vote for him or any other republican that doesn't support it.....I might be sitting home with many fellow libertarians watching Hillary win because of it.

If one is polling less than my shoe size, unfortunately, no I don't.

The polls sometimes lie.

After the Republican debate on FOX, both Hannity and Colmes lied and claimed Ron Paul supporters were redialing to vote for Paul since he was had more than double the votes of the second choice for who won the debate. It was shown that people could only vote once for each candidate from a single phone, but that didn't get an apology from Hannity or Colmes.

NEWSFLASH: The mass media is controlled.

Don't trust the polls.

But even if the polls were right, there is one man who understood the importance of voting for principle............

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."
Adams, John Quincy Sixth president of the United States (1767-1848)

A lot of people say if you vote from candidate A, or candidate B that you are wasting your vote. I disagree. Voting for the lesser of two evils is truly a wasted vote and it is sad so many Americans are so easily brainwashed into believing we have no choice but to allow the media to tell us we can only vote for one of two different scumbag traitors we call candidates.

Pathetic sheep.

Should there be a movement for volunteers to give up these benefits?

If the richest 1 percent of Americans gave up their tax cuts enacted by Bush and the Republicans, we'd have the debt paid off tomorrow.

Should there be a movement to return tax rates to where they were before Bush?

It would surely be a significant contribution to debt reduction.

Addressing the other solution, instructing people to forfeit Social Security is not viable because of their economic dependency and the fact that they are legally entitled to government programs that they paid for throughout their entire lives.

Read Boomsday by Christopher Buckley.  It's about a woman who advocates a policy in which Senior Citizens get tax incentives for killing themselves at certain age in an effort to reduce the strain on SS.

Good read.

No, no it would not, not even close.  But it would be a step in the right direction.  If someone were serious about eliminating the debt, I would sign over my SS benifits, I am not figuring them into my retirement plans anyway...

Sure, why not euthanize all the terminally ill patients to free up some hospital beds.
