Title: Describe a country (in a political sense). Post by: Mingbearer on October 20, 2007, 10:32:28 AM Yes, in a political sense; but add whatever descriptions add to its social unease (like rural behaviours, if you can).
I will start with Germany/Deutschland.... Germany is a land of good beer, fashion faux pas, waving your arm only below the elbow (yes, this is a serious political statement), strange color choices, friendly farmers, a female president, and very strong and fast highways. Yes, those are political enough - and the rest is here because this is the so-called humor thread. Title: Re: Describe a country (in a political sense). You forgot to add their world champion status of pushing people in queues. Watch an Aldi open a new queue and watch the stampede. It is like watching the rugby world cup.In other countries, they line up in an orderly fashion when in a queue. In Germany, it is every man, woman or child for themselves. Orderly queuing not known in any country within a 1000 km radius from my location. Political description of Germany is kind of boring as Germany is not a major player outside EU. I wonder who will start to bash USA in this tread? Chevive? Title: Re: Describe a country (in a political sense). I am a bit slow on the uptake here, but I am not exactly 100% sure, of how we are meant to be answering this thread. I am a bit lost on the OP, not because of the poster(Ming is a good quality poster) but I get the impression that this thread is a split from somewhere, so I missed the overall context of it. In other words, I am clueless like shoeless. :) Title: Re: Describe a country (in a political sense). Post by: Mingbearer on October 20, 2007, 05:14:32 PM Jericoacoara,
I suggest you have a jibe at a country you know fairly well. I am just looking for any 'amusing' anecdotes on their political situations (in general), but their social ambiance is a good target too. Ireland: Awwww, blimey. Another country of fine beer, and fine cuisine. We looked to our fellow Irishmen in America (to be sure!) to support our defeat of the Imperialist and non-Catholic British by giving money to the IRA (someone's terrorist is not anothers). They are not hypocrites post-2001, are they??? Bog-trotting is fun, and so is eating potatoes, says the terribly honoest politician Gerry Adams. Title: Re: Describe a country (in a political sense).
