Disinterest in the diet of Cultural Marxism is not the culprit.  The price of the Internet can not be beat.

Variety of viewpoints also helps.

I've got to agree here. It's similar to how record store's sales are on the decline (or at least were, I haven't checked lately). Why pay for something you can download for free?


People fed up with the MSM might be a better explanation if the same companies weren't picking it back up in web traffic. Internet news services are popular. I would classify a lot of the news people read on the net as mainstream.

Similarly, we can't assume that crappy music is the case for the decline of record stores (although a great deal of what's being produced these days is crap). People are still listening to the same "music", they're just getting it from a different source.

Internet bloggers have exposed msm errors much to the ire of the msm.

You all make great points.

Who has time to read papers anymore when chances are good their job requires they be on a computer most of the time anyway? May as well hit up CNN, FOX and (my personal favorite) DrudgeReport.com while typing up your TPS reports ;) .

In one of my journalism classes, the professor was talking about how he still reads the newspaper even though he could easily do it online, because he likes the routine of getting them and just physically holding them while he's reading. Which is probably the only reason he even bothers. It's more of a routine thing then actually getting information. Especially since the two he reads the most is the Kansas City Star and NY Times. Two of the shittiest papers around.

Fox News Channel and CNN lost ground in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the same period a year ago.

In total viewers CNN was down 9% (501,000 versus 549,000) and Fox News was down 10% (805,000 compared with 896,000). In primetime, CNN was down 6% (901,000 compared with 960,000) and Fox News was also down 6% in total viewers (1.601 million versus 1.711 million).

A 10% drop is a lot in a single year. People have been tired of t.v. news for years now, but every time their is a tragedy, like 9/11, or Katrina, the people fall into their old viewing habits.

Even though a lot of people do go to mass media outlets online for news, it is so much better since there are thousands of choices, compared to the few that are on cable.

The internet is the best source for news, but it took a while for the sheeple to realize it.

I won't lie though... I usually have FOXnews on in the background... pretty much all day. If nothing else, it's something to disagree with, which usually leads me to research on my own.

I got my room mate intrested in the world, so now we research stuff and discuss things together. I was afraid the news bored him, but if I change the channel, he usually says something.

I used to have news on in the background all the time, but I can no longer stomach it. All it does he make me ticked off, so it is better for me not to have it on at all.
