16  Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: war crimes: 640 dead in Gaza! on: January 06, 2009, 03:06:53 PM
It's not difficult to have trucked filled of food and medicine by the military itself so that there are sure no weapon are smuggled. Bring them across the battlefield is more difficult.

The Hamas had no money and no building material to build stuffs for the civilians. They just have weapons and maybe a little cash for the militiamen.

What is totaly insane is that Hamas pretend to make war to Israel while they are in this situation.
17  Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: Where are the protests against Hamas rockets? on: January 06, 2009, 02:58:53 PM
Poeple don't protest at Hamas actions because they know that Israel has the power to deal with that. Israel is strong enough to defend itself frm Hamas, no need to shake the mass medias about that.

Hamas is entirely responsible for the Gazan's ordeal, but everybody knows that Israel punish them very hard.
18  Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: UN School razed: 40 victims! on: January 06, 2009, 02:45:40 PM
even this afternoon, a shopping market was targeted by a bloody air strike !
What's the matter? it's straight a barbarian war against the whole people.
why breaking down a ceasefire to hit schools and hospitals?  Huh?

True but if you have to stay gentle all the way and never kill or hurt any civilian, you won't be able to do a single military operation.
Military operations are by definition an operation which take civilian at risk and kill some. Otherwise it's a police operation.

All moral consideration set aside, that's the only way to beat your ennemies.
I find the level of civilian casualities relatively low considered the concentratin of population. I'm not saying it was necessary thought.

Cedar, you start the topic by saying that Israeli forces blew up a tunel and killed 4 militants. Then you sk why did they do that?

The answer is simple: To blow up a tunel and kill militants.
This a goal in itself.

I don't ask why they did that.

I say that blowing up a tunnel and killing militants when there is a ceasefire is BREAKING THE CEASEFIRE.

During a ceasefire there should be no militant and no tunel. At least not in activity.
20  Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: Sheikh Nizar Rayyan Killed (Gaza) on: January 05, 2009, 01:51:00 PM
My point was that suicide bombing grew a little bit old-fashioned among classic militant groups such as Hamas and Hebollah since arabs started to be victim of such attacks and ultimately fought against them.
It's not regarded as a cry of despair anymore.

Giving citizenship to Palestinian and rejecting the right to return are two different things.
A new citizenship doesn't mean necessarily the loss of right to claim for ancestral land. But it's necessary to give them full citizenship to help them adapt to their new country in the case Israel is not "wiped off the mapp".
The problem with Palestinian refugees is that they never could identify themselves with their new place. Because they are still "refugees" who live in refugee camps even if these "camps" have asphalted streets and apartment buildings.

The right of return is up to Israel to decide. But the social integration of imigrants is the responsability of the countries hosting them.

Next the "right to return" should be given only to those born before the creation of Israel.
It doesn't make sens that 3d generation of so-called Palestinians have rights to a land they have never seen.
Because these poeple are not Palestinian anymore: They are Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian etc.
Even without passport, they were born in these countries so they have the nationality of these countries. Refusing them citizenship should be illegal. Anybody born in any country should have the right to be citien of this country.

Where are the protests against Hamas rockets?
Don't you think that the bombing and the ground invasion are protests enough already?

Rocket fires diddn't start (nor did they stop) at a certain date or after a certain event. They always occured with various frequencies.
There has never been a cease-fire as far as Qasams were concerned. For Hamas a ceasefire doesn't mean they stop firing rockets at Israel.

The reason behind the Gaza war

A variety of reasons, but it mainly has to do with Syria/Iran and the coming Israeli elections. What you posted about Palestinian elections  and Abbas is BS. The Israelis would love to lose the PA as a legitimate negotiating partner, so they can stop negotiations all together on the basis that there's no one to represent the Palestinian side.

Hamas refused truce extension, and that's a fact. Egyptian, Arab, and Turkish delegates tried their best to renew the truce prior to the conflict. Hamas boldly refused to enter a new 6 months truce, and they actually accelerated the range and frequency of the "rocket" attacks. Ashkelon and Ashdod were being hit in the last month, and the Kadima government looked embarrassed and helpless to the Israeli public, especially in this election campaign. They had to do something about it to avoid a huge defeat in the Kenesset. Truth told, Olmert gave a televised speech asking Hamas for a truce and warning of a war.

But the Question is Why did Hamas reject the ceasefire? The answer lies in Damascus and Tehran. I think the Iranians are up to something and they seem to be overconfident. You'd better duck Cedar   Sad

I secnd that.
Why the war? The answer is very obvious to me.

Cedar
The incursion in South Lebanon was a war and Israel lost that war. yes. But Hezbullah lost much more than the symbolical title of War Winner 2006.
They lost 600 men and for one billion dollars of infrastructure while inflicting no significant loss to Israel.
If I was Israeli I wished Israel lost wars of this type more often. Wink

And will see, when israel will withdraw theyr troops from Gaza, everybody will say that they lost that war too. Wanna bet?

I have said several time that I think the rockets should stop.
You OBVIOUSLY know so much more about war and diplomacy than everyone here.

What's YOUR plan to stop the rockets, General?

Let's say you are a sovereign, and these things are raining down on you, watcha gonna do?

This ought to be good....assuming you even have a plan.

If I were the PM of Israel I would offer a reasonable settlement to the Palestinians, along the lines of the one rejected by Israel in 2001.

No. You first crush the Hamas power to the smalest denominator and then you offer "a reasonable settlement".

Anyway no war, no diplomacy, no settlement will ever stop rocket fires.
Only a decision from the most extremist memebr of Hamas can do that. I don't think Hamas itself could stop the rocket fires.

If there is no suicide bombings it's because they understand it won't work in their interrest. They will be linked to al-Qaida type of terror group and that's very bad for their image in the arab world.
If Hamas or Hezbullah do suicide bombing they will definetly get the whole world against them. Sure they are suffering parkinson syndrome from restraining themself to blow themselves up, but they realy can't afford to do that at the moment. They have to win the media war. At the first suicide bombing, they lose it.

The short term problem for Israel is to develop technologies to spot and strike rocket squad. Maybe with 24/7 drone flying over Gaza's border...
And to  destroy tunels. Something like detecting empty space beneath the earth surface.
This war is not only mediatic it's technological too.
26  Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: Hamas: PA conspiring with Israel... on: January 04, 2009, 04:07:05 PM
At some point there was a mini civil war between Fatah and Hamas inside Gaza.
A war inside a war if you will.

The answer is simple: To blow up a tunel and kill militants.

Why do you need more explanation?

Every country where there are terrorist hiding weapons and digging tunels would do the same. And nobody would ask "why?'.

Does Hizbullah represent Lebanese sovreignty?
No but does Lebanon represent Hebullah's sovereignty? Yes.

Lebanon is an group which is tolerated by Hezbullah. It exists and it's supported by Hezbullah only because Hezbullah's politicians agree to let this group (called the State of Lebanon) operate on their soil. At least on the northern part of it.
29  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / Re: Scientologists charged with fraud in France on: January 03, 2009, 02:12:29 PM
Catholic or any other churches still doing that but in more advanced forms. Point is if Scientology is found as fraud which i fully agree with then Christianity, Judaism, Islam and rest or religions are fraud.

A religion is not a fraud in itself. An activity or a practice can be a fraud.

Illy,
Some CEO got their insane slary (through compensation, bonuses, option exercising -the company must buy the shares to sell them to the CEO at a penny each- etc) AFTER the share price of the company fell.

There are even some cases (illegal) when CEO/officers ask the company to revise their option price when the share price fell below it. But most often it doesn't happen because the option price is so ridiculousely low.

In may cases theri salary amount for nearly 10% of the company loss!
And nobody protest "because it's like that".
