1  Assistance and Feedback / The Inferno / Some of the other reasons why I can't be Christian. on: November 08, 2007, 08:37:09 PM
1. I'm sorry but I don't want any part of a group that has members who "speak in tongues". How embarrassing! What do non-ultra-delusional Christians think about these freaks?  Do any Christians here speak in tongues?  laugh laugh

2. I can't be associated with a group that protects child molesters.

3. George Bush is Christian.

4. I can't be associated with a group that has leaders like Pat Robertson or super freaks like Tammy faye Baker.  MENTAL!!!!

5. The dumbest people I know are Christian.

6. The biggest scum bags I've ever met in my life have all been Christians.

7. Most every poor white trash person I've ever met has been Christian. (it doesn't take long to figure out when "Jesus" is in every sentence.)

Feel free to list some the reasons why you can't be Christian.  We all know the main reasons like it being a complete crock of shit.  No need to get into that in this thread.  I discovered that I couldn't be Christian even if I did believe the story.  I'm not going to join that group of freaks.  Someone might think I'm like them...YUCK.
2  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / Re: Does morality come from God? (I beg to differ) on: November 08, 2007, 09:23:13 AM
If God is so perfect, why is he such a terrible edited when it comes to designing creatures? 90% of his designs have either failed, rebelled, and many of which he supposedly killed off in disappointment.
It is unreasonable to apply human standards of logic to God who is not-human by definition.

If God exists, God cannot be known by humans.  Thus such a God's motives,  purposes or undertakings cannot be reasonably judged by any human.

I love that part of religion. Humans are too dumb to understand God so don't even try.  laugh laugh What a crock of shit.

I wish I understood why this is even news.

Why does anyone care that some delusional jesus freak endorsed Giuliani?

It takes someone as stupid as Robertson to endorse a complete jackass like Giuliani. These Christian freaks sure do set the bar high. They pick GW to be their man and now RG.  Do they try to pick the dumbest guy?  laugh laugh

Those Christians better keep their kids from seeing this movie. They might realize how ridiculous Christianity is. We wouldn't want all that brainwashing to go down the drain.

Christianity is a virus and intentionally spreading it to young minds is child abuse.

Its interesting that more and more young Christians are growing up to reject it or at least not buy into the fundi crap. And how do the fundies combat this problem? By home schooling their kids in record numbers.  Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Lips Sealed

That's what you take away from my post? You are obtuse.

You are totally delusional. Seek help.
6  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / USA founded on Christian values? on: November 02, 2007, 05:22:03 PM
USA was founded on Christian values?  What exactly are Christian values?  I don't see what Christianity has thats so special and different?  What are you guys trying to claim?

America has a lot of freedoms because of Christian values?  Considering the buybull advocates for slavery I find it rather odd to claim that Christianity is about freedom.

Dick has 4 daughters, and one of them will buy it from him - all four work there - one is learning to brew, another is an accountant, another in advertising and the other is the plant coordinator, and the one most likely to take over, I am told.

A little too incestual for my taste.  I'd want my daughters to go do their own thing, not take over some lame ass family business.  I'm sure Dick will sell it to his daughter for dirt cheap. Its no different than giving it to her.  Its not light he is going to go into hard ball negotiations with his daughter. I'm sure he'd try to milk every dime he could out of a non family member.

Whats funny about the Catholics and the Vatican is that its pretty much a gay mens club these days.  I'm sure the pope is gay.

I would vote for a candidate whose political policies I liked but whose religious views I disliked over one whose politics I disliked and religious views I liked. For example, Romney's Mormonism means nothing to me one way or another.

OswaldTheOsprey

So you think its ok that he believes a story that is obviously false. A two year old with an internet connection can figure out that Joe Smith was a fraud. I expect the president of the USA to know that.

Would it be ok with you if he believed the easter bunny was real?

Again, I am interested in their positions on political issues-nothing more. Suppose you believed in everyone of his secular political policies. Would you still reject him exclusively on religious grounds?

OswaldTheOsprey

Yes. If you're dumb enough to be a Mormon you sure as hell not smart enough to be president.   Decision should be made on logic, reason and science, not faith in sky friends.

my point is that Christians cherry pick which doctrine they follow, based upon the modern interpretation of morality. the 10 commandments are still mainstream faith because they still align with a modern version of morality, whereas the quote from leviticus was accepted doctrine during the 16th century, based upon the view of morality at that time.

My point is to show that our interpretation of the bible is what is important, it is not the bible. It is us that create morality, not mythology from the 15th century.

Thank you.

They are part of christian doctrine, however they do not define the limits of christian doctrine.  It is more closely aligned with the words of Jesus himself.

Then will you accept that this is part of christian doctrine?

Passage Leviticus 20:13:

13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Surely this is part of Christian Doctrine?

Lets just ignore that part because its not convenient.
13  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / Re: 10 Commandments Christian Doctrine? on: October 30, 2007, 10:32:32 AM
The forgiveness of sin, I believe, tends to be dependent on you never carrying out that sin again.  I suggest you read Pauls admonition to the Corinthians in which he discusses those who simply "believe".

OK fine, you can only molest and murder a child once.
14  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / Re: 10 Commandments Christian Doctrine? on: October 30, 2007, 10:20:54 AM
The funny thing about the 10 commandments is that Christians don't really need to follow them. Lets not forget that all men sin and some of those sins break the  the commandments. Its ok though because Jesus will forgive you of your sins.

The only think you really have to do in Christianity is believe in the Holy Spirit. Everything else is ok as long as you believe. All the death row prisoners that take Jesus into their life get to go to heaven. Jesus will forgive them for molesting and murdering children. After all, we're all sinners. What he won't forgive is an atheist like me. I'm going to burn in hell for eternity. Nice system huh?

15  Social Discussions / Philosophy and Religion / Re: Killing homosexuals. on: October 30, 2007, 06:30:31 AM
Your interpretation of the bible differs with many Christians. I guess thats what makes you Christian. Pick and choose whatever sounds nice. Start your own sub cult. Claim everyone else is wrong.

Back to the topic.
I'd like to hear from the fundies when its ok to kill homosexuals. I don't really give a crap what you and baldar think. You're not delusional enough to support killing gays, we know.
