Political Discussions / Middle East / Israel versus Hamas and Friends

Well now, we have a 'tenuous' peace between Hamas and Israel, many thanks to Egypt for that. I hope it will lead to bigger and better things... I'm not holding my breath though.
I am afraid Israel will go winging it into Gaza very hard should the truce breakdown. Devastating results will follow , as the Israeli people are putting a huge amount of pressure on the government to do so. They are simply tired of missiles and mortars landing indiscriminately amongst them.
What will happen?

For crying out loud, why can't you guys get back on topic?...
HEY!!... Are you trying to start trouble Terry?? lol (just teasing)... If you expressed a position, and someone came along and accused you of "this or that", tried to discredit your position, expressed their opinions yet couldn't back up their opinion of problems with your while address history and of facts you presented to the contrary... You'd just allow them to get away with it??... setting the precident from them to do it again next time?? Of course you wouldn't... That's what's going on here. I'd like to discuss the topic... HECK... I'm the one who stated the topic!! I know, I know. Realityman. You know how much I respect your opinions and postings... but on this one, can't we let bygones be bygones and start fresh again?

For crying out loud, why can't you guys get back on topic? ... I'm rather tired of the whole mess wasted on a 'who did what to whom'. Why can't you all just post based on all sources. You three are all capable, just act like it and move along. Please... I think a lot of all of you and the distress I feel when all of you keep petty grudges going bothers me to no end. Can we all agree to disagree, then move on? My word doesn't count for much, but I am an 'outside observer'.

We should withdraw from Iraq in a progressive manner (here's hoping that the Iraqi Army and Police can pick up the slack).
Not only would it save billions, but stop the devastating losses of loved ones and maimed young men who didn't know what they were fighting for.
Iraq has to sort out their problems their way and quit using the U.S. The military is not a police force. Insist that the U.N. take over that role.

The Holy Quran speaks of seeking world domination and demand its followers to do just that. Especially the Wahabi sect of Islam. Islamic extremists abound in the Mid-East and elsewhere. Thanks realityman, for bringing some facts into the light.

Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: New Testament burned in israel!

The Mid-East has always been in tribal conflict for over 4,000 years. I don't expect this to change overnight, but what I want to know is what do all the previous rants have to do with burning the New Testament of the Christian Bible?
Many other 'symbols' of various issues are burned almost daily. Why pick just one?

Political Discussions / Middle East / Re: Possible US Interest's Section in Tehran?

The article, while intriguing, seems to be more of a pipe dream based on speculation. I agree the U.S. should have a situation in Iran as a basis to build bridges, but I know the Iranian government would not allow any U.S. Flag flying sittuation. I believe the U.S. has to approach the Iranians with a whole new attitude than the current administration has been doing.
The bottom line from my point of view, is to hope that the next POTUS is Senator Barack Obama. He has long wanted and has stated that he wants to engage all nations including Iran in a more thoughtful and respectful manner.
But currently, the idea of an 'interests section' is wishful thinking at the State Department and not at the White House...
It is a nice thing to hope for the reaproachment to Iraq that may have to grow slowly.
