Though I shouldn't be I'm always amused at how little interest the topic of birth control and abortion draw on this male dominated forum. Not your problem guy? She'll take care of it. Not if it is no longer available and that has been a major political goal since the advent and before of Reaganite's hero. Sort of like that commercial about paying now or paying later. Maybe those on this forum are celibate? I doubt that, but then without reliable contraception and the availability of abortion, think about all that resented child support that could become yours. The Youtube is Huckabee, but Palin agrees. Political Wire: Palin Opposes Birth Control For Married Couples Del Ali, president of the nonpartisan research firm Research 2000, authors a guest post for Taegan Goddard's Political Wire arguing that Sarah Palin may prove to be the worst pick ever in modern presidential politics. If this is true, Ali is right: In fact, as Palin's cultural views become better known -- she oppose abortion in all cases and opposes the use of birth control pills and condoms even among married couples -- she will undoubtedly scare the hell out of the soccer moms and 98% of Hillary voters. Update: I inadvertantly left the direct link off the original post. It's now been added. Update 2: As noted in the comments, I very specifically used the words "if this is true" because this is a hard thing to believe. But if you think it's impossible, just take a look at what Mike Huckabee has to say about the pill (I think he's okay with condoms): Patton understands this one, but so long as there is an (R) beside the name it appears to make no difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHMxEQ7hQp4http://www.jedreport.com/2008/08/political-wire-palin-opposes-b.html

Just driving by and hate to interrupt this entirely and very serious discussion, but can a bit of humor hurt? Most likely, but i really don't mind the resulting attacks. Even some guys enjoy "chick flicks" and Maureen today provides a scenario of the White House, following a sudden death of McCain. Enjoy or not. Not bothering with a link as it ruins the story. August 31, 2008 OP-ED COLUMNIST Vice in Go-Go Boots? By MAUREEN DOWD PITTSBURGH The guilty pleasure I miss most when I’m out slogging on the campaign trail is the chance to sprawl on the chaise and watch a vacuously spunky and generically sassy chick flick. So imagine my delight, my absolute astonishment, when the hokey chick flick came out on the trail, a Cinderella story so preposterous it’s hard to believe it’s not premiering on Lifetime. Instead of going home and watching “Miss Congeniality” with Sandra Bullock, I get to stay here and watch “Miss Congeniality” with Sarah Palin. Sheer heaven. It’s easy to see where this movie is going. It begins, of course, with a cute, cool unknown from Alaska who has never even been on “Meet the Press” triumphing over a cute, cool unknowable from Hawaii who has been on “Meet the Press” a lot. Americans, suspicious that the Obamas have benefited from affirmative action without being properly grateful, and skeptical that Michelle really likes “The Brady Bunch” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” reject the 47-year-old black contender as too uppity and untested. Instead, they embrace 72-year-old John McCain and 44-year-old Sarah Palin, whose average age is 58, a mere two years older than the average age of the Obama-Biden ticket. Enthusiastic Republicans don’t see the choice of Palin as affirmative action, despite her thin résumé and gaping absence of foreign policy knowledge, because they expect Republicans to put an underqualified “babe,” as Rush Limbaugh calls her, on the ticket. They have a tradition of nominating fun, bantamweight cheerleaders from the West, like the previous Miss Congeniality types Dan Quayle and W., and then letting them learn on the job. So they crash into the globe a few times while they’re learning to drive, what’s the big deal? Obama may have been president of The Harvard Law Review, but Palin graduated from the University of Idaho with a minor in poli-sci and worked briefly as a TV sports reporter. And she was tougher on the basketball court than the ethereal Obama, earning the nickname “Sarah Barracuda.” The legacy of Geraldine Ferraro was supposed to be that no one would ever go on a blind date with history again. But that crazy maverick and gambler McCain does it, and conservatives and evangelicals rally around him in admiration of his refreshingly cynical choice of Sarah, an evangelical Protestant and anti-abortion crusader who became a hero when she decided to have her baby, who has Down syndrome, and when she urged schools to debate creationism as well as that stuffy old evolution thing. Palinistas, as they are called, love Sarah’s spunky, relentlessly quirky “Northern Exposure” story from being a Miss Alaska runner-up, and winning Miss Congeniality, to being mayor and hockey mom in Wasilla, a rural Alaskan town of 6,715, to being governor for two years to being the first woman ever to run on a national Republican ticket. (Why do men only pick women as running mates when they need a Hail Mary pass? It’s a little insulting.) Sarah is a zealot, but she’s a fun zealot. She has a beehive and sexy shoes, and the day she’s named she goes shopping with McCain in Ohio for a cheerleader outfit for her daughter. As she once told Vogue, she’s learned the hard way to deal with press comments about her looks. “I wish they’d stick with the issues instead of discussing my black go-go boots,” she said. “A reporter once asked me about it during the campaign, and I assured him I was trying to be as frumpy as I could by wearing my hair on top of my head and these schoolmarm glasses.” This chick flick, naturally, features a wild stroke of fate, when the two-year governor of an oversized igloo becomes commander in chief after the president-elect chokes on a pretzel on day one. The movie ends with the former beauty queen shaking out her pinned-up hair, taking off her glasses, slipping on ruby red peep-toe platform heels that reveal a pink French-style pedicure, and facing down Vladimir Putin in an island in the Bering Strait. Putting away her breast pump, she points her rifle and informs him frostily that she has some expertise in Russia because it’s close to Alaska. “Back off, Commie dude,” she says. “I’m a much better shot than Cheney.” Then she takes off in her seaplane and lands on the White House lawn, near the new ice fishing hole and hockey rink. The “First Dude,” as she calls the hunky Eskimo in the East Wing, waits on his snowmobile with the kids — Track (named after high school track meets), Bristol (after Bristol Bay where they did commercial fishing), Willow (after a community in Alaska), Piper (just a cool name) and Trig (Norse for “strength.”) “The P.T.A. is great preparation for dealing with the K.G.B.,” President Palin murmurs to Todd, as they kiss in the final scene while she changes Trig’s diaper. “Now that Georgia’s safe, how ’bout I cook you up some caribou hot dogs and moose stew for dinner, babe?” http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/31/opinion/31dowd.html?hp=&pagewanted=print

The Wall Street Journal gave a really famous anti-abortionist space to rave on about Palin's anti-abortion stand and even praised her choice to recently give birth to her 5th child a Down's Syndrome boy that many might have aborted. Jill Stanek a rabid right to lifer did a column. And here from Stanek's website is her statement about McCain's fabulous choice. http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/08/mccain_picks_pa.htmlBut, before those who join McCain, Palin and Stanek in their views, Stanek is a bit extremist. That may be the understatement of the day. She's a columist for Joe Farah's World Net Daily and also has a website. This one is a doozy. If you can handle this one, would you want Stanek in your political corner for the campaign? April 9, 2007 Sweet and Sour Fetus: Chinese cannibalism The following, if true, is what abortion and the dehumanization of preborn babies has wrought. It is the most despicable outcome of abortion I have ever seen or reported. Yet, if one is "pro-choice" and denies that preborn humans are human, there is nothing wrong with this whatsoever. It can't even be considered cannibalism. Reported The Epoch Times on March 29.... [Article and video on page 2] The Next Magazine, a weekly publication from Hong Kong, reported that infant corpses and fetuses have become the newest supplements for health and beauty in China. Not only is the placenta considered a beauty remedy, but also aborted fetuses are much sought after delicacies. In Guangdong, gourmet body parts are in high demand and can even be purchased through hospitals. The magazine's investigations into this form of cannibalism took them to Liaoning province. It continues if you can take it. It appears Stanek is also a favorite of O'Liely with a video on the same page of her website. http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2007/04/sweet_and_sour.htmlStanek appears to have some sort of cannibalism fetish. But from WND, if you support stem cell research like Nancy Reagan and Michael Fox, you may be a cannibal too according to John and Sarah's new best buddy. Michael J. Fox is a cannibal Posted: October 20, 2004 1:00 am Eastern By Jill Stanek © 2008 WorldNetDaily.com Michael J. Fox is a famous TV and movie star. He is witty. He is charming. A few years ago, we learned he has Parkinson's disease. PD is a slowly progressive neurological disorder, characterized by tremors, shuffling gait, a masklike facial expression, "pill rolling" of the fingers, drooling, intolerance to heat, oily skin, emotional instability and defective judgment (although intelligence is rarely impaired). http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=41010Apology I can't access the WSJ as I'm not a subscriber, but if you are you can check out Stanek there too. Wonder if Rupert's editors ever read the real Stanek?

Patton likes to talk a lot about how the old warrior has all that foreign policy experience. While McCain was suffering in captivity for all those years, the war left him behind. Fortunately, in the end he was released. But along with talking a lot about that foreign policy experience, Patton never appears to share any of the realities in Iraq. Constitution? An Islamic Republic, primarily controlled by the Shia. The result of all those "democratic" purple fingers. If indeed as is claimed Iraq is a sovereign nation, should they decided to divide into more than one nation and ever figure out how to distribute all that oil, other than bombing the whole nation "back to the stone age," what's to stop them. While some like to believe all is wonderful, some reports may show that Petraeus screwed up with paying and arming the Sunni sheiks. But no doubt a BBC article is only a "lefty" one. If it doesn't come from FAUX, Rushbo, or maybe the Moonie Times, it has to be too far left for Patton. Just the final statement about those Petraeus armed and trained, but it is worth the question how can the U.S. continue to control the choices of Iraqis? Are they are not a sovereign nation? Or is that claim just one more Bush lie? "As we return to the US base at Camp Apache, we pass through many more checkpoints, all of them manned by groups of fighters from the Sons of Iraq. While these militias wait to be integrated into the Iraqi armed forces, Adhamiyah is being carved up into fiefdoms - something that could mean more violence once the Americans leave." And he walked onto the stage and it became HIS convention.
There is not a person alive that can do a Democratic Party Convention stemwinder like Bill Clinton, and tonight he did what those who have watched him for years knew he could do. He is a combination of a Baptist tent revival preacher and an old school Southern politician. He was spectacular. He was what he has always been a combination of "bubba" and brains.
And Biden came after the convention fillers and was exactly what he was supposed to be. A combination of the attack dog assignment and down to earth, working class guy which is where he came from.
But then it happened. For those who have an understanding of how Democratic Conventions are run, it is almost written in stone the presumptive candidate doesn't show until he accepts the nomination the final night of the show. And for many years both the Democratic and GOP conventions have primarily been "shows."
The "unexpected guest" arrived and even Michelle appeared surprised when Barak Obama, sauntered onto the stage.
The convention the Clinton's could have stolen away from him and appeared to have tried, took back his convention in the most brilliant political move I've ever seen at a Democratic Convention.
It's all his now and tomorrow the terrific stem winders finished, an orator unlike most have seen in decades will speak to HIS convention.
Just my opinion, but it was so simple it was spectacular. But unquestionably a change from the past. Proof positive that Yes! He and we can!

Oh, now I understand. You consider it a compliment to call an Afro-American woman Aunt Jemima because your so fond of her pan cake mix? Ever wonder how those you choose to joke with about their race might really think about you? I suspect behind your back they make fun of you. But, Cindy was the topic of the thread, any feelings about Johnny's choice of his emissary to Georgia? Figure she understands how many troops he's need even though he has none and may never have any to run the Russians out of Georgia?
Some regularly enjoy poking fun of women who aren't combat ready or never served. Now, the old warrior sends his spouse to Georgia. Maybe it's really to assess the Georgian choice of beer and open a new market?

There were four different polls at on the link. Did you notice that? How many of the buttons did you push. It appears the one you continue to post again and again. Try again. See those little button by each poll, if you really work at it maybe you can click on each one which will then show the results of a the different polls. Silly me, I was only concerned about your ability to read.

Any updates from this info re: Raytheon? http://www.wikinvest.com/stock/Raytheon_Company_(RTN) For we aged who managed to survive the very long cold war, you may find a far different attitude about the continuing cash advances on that Chinese credit card to keep the military industrial complex going strong. Those born in the midst of the Great Depression don't share the value system of Dutch's greed is good generation. Fortunately, it won't be all that long until we're gone, but my baby boomer '60s and '70s offspring, are about to take our place. And a lot of them at this point are in Denver supporting Barak Obama. Will he be as the very possible future president as willing to continue the never ending warfare, we of our generation have lived with for almost all of our lifetimes. Don't know. Just asking. But one reminder is relevant today. We vote and have taught those boomers to follow our lead. OT, maybe? Maybe not. Food for thought. Cryptomaniac, shall I send Tums or Maalox ?

Just quickly driving by to point out that those who are typically racists are those who also enjoy racist jokes. Years ago they were more commonly referred to as "n-word" jokes, but one thing you clearly show neue regel is you enjoy perpetuating those old n-word jokes.
BTW apparently, your attitudes extend past Afro-Americans and also include those of Hispanic ancestry and even extending to continent below ours, where with the exception of one nation, Brazil, the language other than those of the indigenous peoples is all Hispanic as is much of the culture. What you regular prove is ignorance abounds as you're an excellent example.

Wow, Biker Dude did I miss the whole point of this discussion, somehow I thought when one discusses military tactics the ideal location as Rush hoped for with Re-Create "68 was Denver and the local gestapo there. No one has discussed Minneapolis-St Paul, but it is a GOP convention and the lawsuits may not all be settled from the GOP and NY City cops and their tactics, I suspect things will be quieter in Minnesota. All that should be required are some additions to the vice squad to be located in the men's room at the airport. I heard the local entertainment for those who swing both ways, are providing "Panty Discount Cards" during the week of the convention. Wonder how the gestapo or vice squad pickings would be around town. Do they have an actual "red light" district in the Twin Cities? Vittner will be there though a lot of GOP elected representative have decided to avoid McCain. OT I know, but accoring to polls today Dole may have made and excellent choice as Libby has a race on her hands and N. Carolina could have a new Senator come November or actually next January. This is the add that may have help provided courtesy of the DSCC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs6xSmycny0&eurl=http://interactive.zogby.com/fuse/messageview.cfm?catid=24&threadid=26304 Sorry for the temporary interruption and OT post. I leave you to get on with the choices of the militarist who perhaps would like to be a gestapo member themselves now and then, but only just for fun.

I understand Reaganite, as I noted with the post it requires some reading and hardly expected you to read. Its more than obvious you may be able to decipher a few numbers, but when words of more than a syllable or at most to are a requirement it has always been obvious it is way past your intellect to comprehend.
The proof of the pudding is your choice of screen names. While he did scripts well as President that others like Noonan wrote, and even managed in a few B movies, he was not actually the sharpest knife in the drawer and by the end of his regime it was clear the elevator was stopping many floors beneath the top.
