1  Political Discussions / Political Humor / Re: American Politics For Europeans-P.J. O'Rourke on: March 18, 2008, 09:17:48 AM
P.J. O'Rourke, in the latest issue of The Weekly Standard, explains American politics to our European friends. Offends on a non-partisan basis! Wink

O'Rourke's still the best.

Osama is a man of change, yet he seeks to preserve family, tradition, and
religious values. He wants to stop the collapse of society, putting the
individual into context. He visions setting the family forth as the basis
of society. He seeks to put the legal system where it belongs: in local
communities. And he wants to abolish the Federal Reserve and re-create the
gold standard.

I consider Obama, whom I believe this satirizes, to be the least of the three evils...yet I still think the site is pretty clever.

I also don't think it really is likely to turn a single person against him, since the kind of rube really willing to accept the association has surely been in the McCain/Bush camp for years.

I'd hope that people could appreciate satire and/or humor targetting their own guy exactly as much as targeting someone they hate.
3  Political Discussions / Political Humor / The Lesser of Two Evils is Still...EVIL on: March 18, 2008, 08:04:20 AM
This year, especially if Hillary steals the nomination by bribing superdelegates, there may well be a record number of people (Republican, Democrat, AND independent) who see the race as between two undesirables, who may write in protest votes, or stay home in droves.

Here are a few satirical pics on the topic...

Hmmm...I wish I could preview the image attachments, and see how they get arranged.
