There are many better places to see. If you come to Scotland you have horrible weather for a start, which is never good. There is economic and social depravation, the cities and people have been corrupted by 30 years of unchallenged capitalism.
The only way i would advise Scotland as a destination is if you like seeing such things, if you like the prospect of being robbed or stabbed and you want to meet a people who suffer from some sort of small nation complex.
I strive to see change here, it's not a place i enjoy living in, so i would be a hypocrite to suggest it as a destination to anyone else.
Use your money and time wisely, dont waste on what Scotland does not have to offer.
C'mon Comrade Joe, it can't be that bad. I guess it is the same that any other european capital, I mean with good things and bad things too. But, man, the pictures of Scotland I've seen in this and in other forums, make me wish to visit it. Saludos

Guys I always hear friends of mine talking about ETA and what they do, but what exactly are the Etarras's Agenda?. For what I understand it's independance but, is that it?
ETA demands are: 1.- Independence of Vascongadas 2.- The annexation of Navarra, a region of Spain. 3.- The annexation of a southern province of France, that ETA says it belongs to them too. 4.- All eta assesins in prison, to be relief. IMO there is only one answer for these questions: NO ETA, folks, is a Marxist/Leninist terrorists group and we know for sure what's the meaning of this: if you don't agree with them.............you're shot!

I've read it in a local newspaper. But I also read: The website www.fitnathemovie.com is taken off-line by it's United States based hosting provider "Network Solutions". The website only announced the Islam critical film Fitna of Dutch parliamentary member Geert Wilders and had no content besides a single page with the text: "Fitna, coming soon". Still Network Solutions claims it needs to investigate if the site violates Network Solutions acceptable use policy and replaced the website with a page with the following text:
This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site's content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy. Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding this site that are under investigation. For more information about Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy visit the following URL: http://www.networksolutions.com/legal/aup.jsp
Hosted by Network Solutions.Did you know that, it seems that, Network Solutions do host the Hezbollah web site? No problems for Hezbollah, but regarding Mr.Geert Wilders, Network Solutions "claims it needs to investigate if the site violates Network Solutions acceptable use policy" I'm sorry but we should stand right against this sort of censorship. (Ironic mode on) "We, western people, are the one to blame for all Muslim terrorisms. We are the one provoking by not respecting other's people belief. The Mahoma cartoons only aim is to offend Muslims in the world. No problem if the one insulted is the Christian God or his Son. If they are the insulted, we have to accept it under the freedom of speech. If the one pictured is Mahoma, we are only looking for problems. We do not respect. (Ironic mode off) Appeasement, the sad and bloody appeasement. We haven't learnt after the years. I guess the first steps would be: the banning of the veil in Europe. As soon as any of the Muslims priests say a word regarding how to beat your wife in order to avoid Police investigations or talking badly about our way of life............................should be sent out of our countries in less than 48 hours. Girls are also more expensive. They need a new dress for every dance... and shoes... and excessories - cause GOD FORBID they show up to the Prom with the same purse!
... or maybe this was just my sister...
This is very true. Simply drop by any mall in your town and see the difference. For boys 3 or 4 pairs of trousers and 5 or 6 different types of shirts. That's all. For girls you have a full world of clothes, shoes, accesories..............................for god's sake! I'm gonna need an extra job Start saving...it's almost all of us. How can you go out with friends and wear the same things twice? How can you sparkle if you're wearing same old same old...? I have a son and a niece who are the same age. She is very much noisier and more demanding, it is a culture shock when she is here every other weekend. My son does his own thing, quiet, relaxed and dignified...lol...The niece is a force of nature, but I love her, she is interested in everything and shakes the men up. And she can talk, which is more than the men do... Easter at home with the family. We are not religious, it is just a family time. Chocolate eggs, lots of food, probably comedy DVDs and the Wii and walking if it's nice. Snow is predicted though... Have a lovely time everyone. Y para ti Jabato un saludo especial Ahkenaten...a bunny-boiler...who'da thought it? ¡Gracias Viv! And Feliz Semana Santa for you all, folks!

Jericoacoara wrote: Do you think raising a daughter is harder than raising a son?
I don't think it is harder, but different. There is a big difference if your son come home and tells you: Dad, my girlfriend is pregnant and when is the daughter the one who come home and tells you: Dad I AM pregnant. It is not the same, even when society this and that and the responsibility of the father nowadays and all the bla, bla, bla. There is a Spanish saying: tuya es la vaca, tuyo es el ternero. Translation: if you are the owner of the cow, you're also the owner of the calf
Girls are far more complicated human beings than boys, IMO. In a few words, boys only need a ball to play football and you can forget about them for almost the whole afternoon. I've had my daughter with two of her friends at home for an afternoon and..............................man, a ball do nothing. And for sure 3 girls is a wrong number.

Eastern in Spain is....................I don't know how to say it...Kids enjoy a one week holiday, this week between today and next sunday, no kids at school. Adults do work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday are days off too. So there is a part of the Spanish Eastern that means crowded beaches. The other part means religious processions, silence and respect.
In my particular case, my daughter is enjoying her Eastern holidays staying at my brother's in Fuerteventura which is 30 minutes away from Gran Canaria by plane. What can I say folks?.............................................Yupi, Yupi, Hey. No daughter for a whole week!!!! Finally, spare time for me..................only. And what is better.....I do not have to share it with no one. It is only mine
It is just like going back 10 years. I'm having some feeling of freedom and independence that you can only have when you've realized how tough is to rise a kid.

My condolences for his relatives.
It is simply repulsive. A worker, a man that was not politically important. He retired from politics last year and was working as a..........toll booth operator on a nearby motorway!!! For God's sake!! I mean he was not a "bloody capitalist and an ultra/mega fascist" a toll booth operator....................how brave!. But Timesonline says: "the violent Basque separatist group", separatist group??? ¡¡Y una mierda!! this is unacceptable. ETA is a terrorists group, end of the story. I want to see them all dead or all behind bars. These hijos de la grandísima puta shot him because they knew he had no bodyguard. Cowards!!!!!

The culture is that you work and buy the big house on the hill, run two cars, go abroad a few times a year...that's how things are done. IMO it's not natural, there are many things which bring happiness within the home and not just regarding looking after children. Many of my female friends do prefer to be at work and a follow a career. I do it, but I don't "get" it.
I do prefer to be at home and not following any career. What I really want is time. Time for me only, to play my guitar or my bass guitar or to save into my PC all the patches in my pedalboard, in order to replace the battery..... I believe that domestic tasks are the best way to get that time. Tidy up the house is something that only takes a couple of hours, twice or three times a week. The ironing, 2 hours once a week. Washing the clothes, twice a week. So only food, the washing of plates, forks, spoons and knives and leaving your bed ready for the next night, are the only tasks that you necessary have to do daily. Last time my boss told me: "Hey I want to know who's behind this terrible mistake" and I was the one behind of it..................I rather prefer being at home,............responsibility is not so big and important as it is when you decide to follow a career.

But we do live within a society. In 1960 the Spanish wives were not allowed to open a bank account without their husbands authorization. In 2008, law says that political parties must be equal regarding candidates: equal number of men and women. And at first, it seems fair, it seems simply common sense, but, no one wanted to know about what was the percentage of women affiliation to political parties before they issued this particular law. 32% in the socialist party of Spain. 30% in the Spanish partido popular. It is a positive discrimination against men, because they are many more, therefore there must be more men candidates than women candidates. Equality is unfair.

I know some of them. One of them is a dentist. His wife is an economist but do not want to work as economist. She rather prefer being at home rising the kids. Why does she prefer to stay home than earn a living working as an economist? Women and men are equals. Women do not have to stay at home nowadays, as they used to. So why are there many women that simply refuse this "new age" of women liberation and do want to go back again to that pre-equality times.
