What is the point of this thread? angel
2  Political Discussions / United States / Re: Gustav to steal thunder from GOP? on: August 28, 2008, 03:49:46 AM
guys, you can argue the "finer" points all you like, but the majority of the voters remember Katrina as a failure of the Bush Administration.

And so it begins......

any way you could elaborate on that comment

BTW, nice work by the police in stopping it from occurring.

BTW, it was not a "gun" it was a sniper rifle set for 750M.

They were meth heads.. What part of the FBI stating ITS NOT A CREDIBLE THREAT is not understood.
Calm down there little one.  Of course it wasn't a credible thread, but this is about more than just these dumb criminals.  I only wanted to know what was meant by "and so it begins . . . " and giving people all the facts.  You may need to learn not to read more into a post than is really there.

For anyone interested in facts.  The 3 a.m. timing was at the request of the wireless company, because that was the time of the lowest volume (you know a time when many people are asleep which is what the point of the Hillary ad was so the times would be the same) and the best time to send out mass e-mails, txts, etc. to not overload the system.
6  Political Discussions / United States / Re: Who called who elitist? on: August 22, 2008, 08:05:55 AM
Does anyone here seriously believe EITHER candidate has done an honest days work in the last 20 or so years?

They are BOTH elitist scum.

And campaigns about ideals? Come on JPN. McCain may have been the one to sling the first mud in his own name, he may not have, I can't say has I do not watch TV and ignore any thing of that nature of radio and internet. But you know as well as I that mud was going to be thrown, its a time honored and proven effective tactic.

Well 20 years ago that puts Obama in his 20's so I would say yes, I do seriously believe that at least one of them has done an honest days work in the last 20 years.  BTW, it was McCain that started in on this whole elitist bullshit, so it is only right that he is the one suffering the blow back now.
7  Political Discussions / United States / Re: McCain the Liar and the "Straight-Lie-Express" on: August 14, 2008, 11:08:49 AM
Perrin ; The popular lie about the photo Patton uses as his avatar is that Obama does not put his hand over his heart when the pledge is recited. It is this LIE that made this photo popular amoung right wing hacks looking to invent something to end his popularity. In fact the photo was taken at the start of the national anthem not the pledge.
Obama asserts that he was taught as a child that "you put your hand over your heart for the pledge, when the anthem is played you sing"... Sounds good to me.
Here is a photo of Obama reciting the pledge.

Here is a photo Patton doesn't want us to look at...McCain embracing Bush and all he represents
...note how his eyes are closed in what appears to be a profound emotional display in an adoration of the man and what he stands for.

I was aware of the reasoning, just also was aware that it has been discounted numerous times to make those "attempts" to be ineffective.

Biker, you should know that if you make an accusation, saying "check the search engines" is a pretty poor "proof".  The only think close that I have seen where Obama misrepresented McCain is by siting he received $2M from oil companies when it was more like $1.4M.  Definitely not the same level as claiming Obama is the cause of $4 gas that McCain is guilty of.  BTW, love the avatar.  If you are a McCain supporter, why is your avatar of Obama next to an American flag?  Makes the man look like a visionary.  (BTW, if it is some lame attempt at showing Obama not to be patriotic, it deserves one of BBW's fail posts)

I am very respectful of McCain's military service, I just don't see how that helps him be a president.  Especially when he has an economic advisor that calls us a Nation of Whiners.

10  Political Discussions / United States / Re: McCain to Balance Budget in First Term on: July 08, 2008, 04:50:03 AM
I'd rather McCain try and fail than to elect someone who has no intention of even trying to curb government spending but rather is looking to install tens...maybe hundreds of billions of dollars of new government and will absolutely soak ALL of us to pay for it.

That is cute that you assume he is even going to try.  I guess it comes down to which McCain you want to believe in.  You have quite a few choices from what I have seen of his "positions"
11  Political Discussions / United States / Re: Obama thinks he will be attacked because he is black... on: June 30, 2008, 07:37:54 AM
Franklin would have made a great president.

Sure, he had boatloads of faults, but he is none the less, a great American. Perhaps the quintessential American thinker of his day - Jefferson, Adams and company lacked a grounding in the practical, the reality of the world that Franklin had in great abundance.

Oh.....that just can't be.....he was OLD....

He conducted the affairs of his country towards the French nation with great success, which included securing a critical military alliance in 1778 and negotiating the Treaty of Paris (1783).

MY GOD!   He was 72 in 1778 and 77 in 1783!!!

Bury the man already......he's WORTHLESS.......He's OLD!

In order to better understand where this rage is coming from, may I ask you, how old are you?
12  Political Discussions / United States / Re: Obama thinks he will be attacked because he is black... on: June 30, 2008, 05:00:34 AM
I noticed no answer on what data you use to make your determination:

...age brings with it a host of physical and mental dysfunctions...

Abraxas, you see what you want to see and are looking under rocks to find something wrong where there is no evidence there is.....you are playing as much a "could happen cuz he's old" game as much as anyone who wants to play the "could happen cuz he's a Middle-Aged African American male who smokes in a high stress environment" game...or the "could happen cuz of a crazy white guy" game....why you're at it, why not play the "could happen cuz his wife is crazy"....or the "could happen cuz his ex-minister laid the powah of a curse on him" game.....

His doctors gave him a clean bill of health....do you know more than them?

I can accept Obama's clean bill....even though he smokes.....can you accept McCains?

Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter were used as examples of longevity....nothing more.....you seem to think life is over at 72.

And like you said: Carter was one of the worst presidents in American history....at the tender age of 53.

You do realize that McCain's medical records have been released and he only allowed reports a very short amount of time to view them.  There were hundreds of pages of history.  McCain has had a hell of a lot of poor medical issues in his life and while at the moment he is healthy, it does not seem likely (yes based on statistics) that he will remain that way.
13  Political Discussions / United States / Re: McCain proposes $300M prize for new auto battery on: June 24, 2008, 09:40:58 AM
My only issue with McCain's idea is where he gets the 300M for the prize.  His explanation was by "eliminating" pork, which coincidentally was how he was going to pay for all of his other "policies".  I like the thought, just lacking in substantial follow through.
14  Political Discussions / United States / Re: Obama thinks he will be attacked because he is black... on: June 23, 2008, 10:24:02 AM
Has anyone seen the doll that has been for sale that depicts Obama as a monkey?

What about Rush Limbaugh's playing of that one particular song?

Let us not forget the "Baby Mama" reference on Fox News.

Really.  I don't have to look to hard to already see racist attacks on Obama, so please quit feigning ignorance

Wrong section, but I'll leave it so more people can see it. One of my all time favorite human beings.

RIP

I thought about putting in a different section, but I had the same thought you did.  More people will see it here and it is one of the US top news stories.  Besides, he was one of the first people to fight the FCC, so in my book he was a great guy.
