There's a frequently used phrase 'victimless crime'. This often intends a crime where no-one is (apparently) harmed or suffers loss. What reminded me of this was someone getting 'done' for unauthorised use of the internet - or to be precise another person's access to it. The malefactor simply took his portable to a hotspot where he could connect via a non-secured connection. The owner/subscriber was not using the connection at the time, so suffered no 'loss' in terms of reducd bandwidth.
So what 'crime' did the malefactor commit?
The REAL question is - what defines a crime?
(Off travellng again. Hope I can get connectivity... legally!)
Technically it's theft from whatever company supplies the connection.
