It seems that with the resent success Huckabee has been having there comes a media onslaught from every direction.

Huckabee wanted to isolate AIDS patients

Conservatives target a once tax-happy Huckabee

Mike Huckabee's "truth squad" needs a truth squad

The concern isn't so much with Huckabee... but with the media as a whole. Are they really that obsessed with keeping the toppers on top? Where's this criticism of Clinton? Guiliani?

I see a nasty trend.

Any comments?

Kinda makes me wonder why we're all here. I mean, it's not cause of the "chicks" or anything...

Maybe now that he is in the lead the scrutiny Huckleberry Hound will be under will reveal his nutjob status. This guy is almost as scary as Pat Robertson.

You seem like a guy very easy to 'scare'...first Mike Huckabee...a wouldn't-hurt-a-fly ex-baptist preacher, and now...me? It's making more sense why the mythical 'religious right' leave you guys quivering in the closet.

What does Ann Coulter have to do with the feminine (or lack thereof) Democrat stable of candidates?

Agree, it seems anytime a 3rd person or an underdog comes up, the media falls for the tricks played by the big so called front runners. But this time I see no 100% clear front runner except the ones the media push. The GOP does these dirty tricks all the tame and just at the other post about Huckabee and his Dwayne and God issue, just smear attempts.

The front-runners are there because the polling data says they are there. Polls of random citizens.

Huckabee is finding himself among the leaders and is getting the scrutiny that all the leaders get. Clinton's been getting it for over a decade. Edwards had his turn (haircuts, expensive house), so did Obama (schooled in a Madrussa). Guiliani, Romney, McCain, all have lots of stories unveiled.

Unlike most of the Clinton stories, and unlike rumors that Obama is secretly a Muslim, the Huckabee stories are a matter of record.

Huckabee really did answer that questionare the way he did in 1992. The media is not making that up.
Huckabee really did involve himself in getting a convicted rapist parolled early because Huckabee bought into the far-right crazy conspiracy stories that the man was railroaded in order to "clear" Bill Clinton. And the man went on to murder someone.

IMHO, that's what we should be discussing.

Well, now you bring up an interesting question.

Are they on top because that's all the media reports on... or does the media report on them cause they're on top?

I think it's a little bit of both, actually.

I mean, Clinton and Guiliani (and of course Fred Thomas) were pretty much well known before they announced their candiaticy... but the others never really broke out. As a result, their plans and their opinions aren't mentioned often, no matter how good (or bad).

I was reading some newspaper (sorry, don't remember which) and they had the audacity to say that no one's really talking about the economy and buisness and Social Security and the country's debt. THAT'S ALL RON PAUL IS TALKING ABOUT. I'm not saying this cause I'm a fan of Ron Paul, but more as criticism to the media.

There ARE people out there talking about issues, but it's usually NOT the frontrunners.

I've heard enough about Clinton and Healthcare and Guiliani and September 11th. What does everyone else have to say?

It's like they don't even care.

It seems his own worst enemy, much like McCain, is his own record.

Then make your own damn thread. This one's mine.
