Abraxas, the other difference in a focus group versus a poll is the number of people surveyed.  A focus group has a much smaller sample size due to cost to conduct it.  While the information may be a little more detailed, it really amounts to the same load of garbage.

So, in short, this thread is basically an argument of which pile of garbage you want to believe.  Sorry Oswald, but point JPN.  While his post contained very little useful information, it did point out how useless your information was as well, which, from a debating stand point, was all he really had to do.

How about, has no value to informed voters?  This is subjective, but I have listed to whom it is intended.  While this information may and probably will affect those who will vote based on celebrity endorsements, it will have zero impact to those who understand that this information is anything but informative.

Look Totino: Egomania in action! You can tell your grandchildren you saw jpn reduced to lunacy while posting!

I wouldn't talk dude... your the one who thinks the solution to poverty is to sterilize poor people.  Roll Eyes

As opposed to subsidizing them and their offspring in perpetuity? Eh, dude?

I think you are confusing violence with poverty.  Violence begets violence, our current social welfare system helps to keep the poor poor.  And Stupidity keeps people interested in Eugenics.

You must consider H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Theodore Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, and Woodrow Wilson among others stupid. I am in select company.

I would say they were ignorant as for the time, they did not have enough information, but in today's age, it is no longer about ignorance (which is acceptable), but willful ignorance (which is not as acceptable).  But if it feeds your ego, then by all means, believe what you will.  Just don't practice it.

Perrin I see you have a Churchill quote in your sig. Did you know he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of Britain in 1910 in support of sterilizing the "feeble-minded" in Britain?

I don't see how you can relate that to ignorance. It's pretty straight forward....

Wow, well then, that changes my mind on everything.

BTW, did you know that Einstein was thought to be mental retard until the age of 10 or so.

Also, do you think that we may have made some advancements in the realm of science and medicine in the last 97 years that may make a statement from 1910 look a bit ignorant based on todays knowledge.

Well actually I'll tell you the ONLY difference if the sterilization was put into practice back then in contrast to today.

Back then a lot more people would be getting sterilized. There would be less today as we know more about particular diseases.

So yes, it's about ignorance in terms of who was sterilized. But it doesn't change the overall meaning of his plan, which was to weed out the weak. In fact, you should be somewhat appalled that he had that type of mindset.

I'm not an advocate of eugenics and in fact despise the whole idea... and I don't think a debate is going to change the way I, or anyone else, feels.

I'm just puttin' it out there...

So, it is your thought that I should completely dismiss someones work due to an ignorance in one area?

No, alot of the people Oswald named did great things. But I think their feelings on eugenics should be taken into account.

And Abraxas, I'm not debating for the idea. I just don't think Perrin's excuse is legit.
