I was thinking that this could happen in each Forum topic, but I'll start here.

I'm just wondering if people would be willing to have a kind of book club, but with podcasts.

We pick a podcast, listen to it (they're only about an hour on average), and then comment on them.

I assume most people have access to podcasts (iTunes, et al.) and speakers or earphones.

It could really expand our conversations. Some of these podcasts are great quality, have leading thinkers on them ,etc.

I'm on dial-up so it isn't really feasible. Unless you feel like transcribing them for me. Cheesy

I'm in rural Ireland. We only got running water last year. (jk)

There's broadband at school, but we have this control-freak as our computers teacher and all his security software makes it slower than dial-up.

Wow, the first google search I'd do is "how do I over-ride the security software!" :-)

Well, when you get to the 21st century, let me know if you want to do a podcast club... /jk

I know how to. But I'd get into a lot of trouble.

Ireland has just been through 10 years of economic boom and I still can't get broadband.

That's a good idea, for all topics really. I don't have iTunes, what others are there?

You can get iTunes free, but you can download the podcasts for free at their website, too.  Once we pick on, we'll make sure everyone can access it. Any mp3 player will do.

If you have an iPod (or similar) you can listen while walking, etc.

Here are a few that I have enjoyed:
http://radiofreephilosophy.com/welcome1.html
http://www.philosophytalk.org/notesPastShows.htm
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/inourtime/inourtime_philosophy.shtml

If people want to sugest a general topic, I may be able to find one that is fairly appropriate.

I'll give you a topic: a Thighmaster is neither a thigh nor a master. Discuss!

Damn. If it has to do with ID or creationism, I'm out.

naw, I'm thinking straight philosophy.

For example, there are some great podcasts on the theories of individual philosophers, or on specific topics.

One podcast takes a philosophical principle and compares it to a contemporary movie or band:

http://www.opencourtbooks.com/default.htm

The Simpsons and Philosophy
More Matrix and Philosophy
Mel Gibson's "Passion" and Philosophy
Seinfeld and Philosophy
"The Devil's Advocate" and Philosophy
The Wu-Tang Clan and Philosophy
"Dead Poets Society" and Philosophy
Metallica and Philosophy
South Park and Philosophy
Jimi Hendrix and Philosophy
Depeche Mode and Philosophy

The Meaning (wink, wink) of Life April 9, 2007, by George Reisch and Edward Slowik
The territory of Pop Goes Philosophy is this sudden convergence of philosophy and pop culture. We'll dip into these books and I'll introduce some of the best, weirdest, or most puzzling ideas they have to offer, such as Ed Slowik's conclusion that the study of every Monty Python DVD, will actually increase your chances of doing better in Philosophy 101.

Honestly, the best way to get these is through iTunes.
