Ron Paul's latest grass roots money bomb has officially gone off.  A few hours ago the Paul campaign broke it's own record for one day fundraising in the history of Presidential primaries.  As off right now he has raised 4.9 MILLION today with about three hours left to try and raise another 1.1 million to break Kerry's all time record in the general election.  As of now his 4th quarter total just hit over 16.5 MILLION and climbing faster than I can type.

He's averaging over 2,000 donors per hour...unbelievable, with an average on $109 per donation.  This is real Americans donating their hard earned money, not the slush funds of corporate America.  I'm so proud to be an American today, on the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

There is still time for YOU to help history be made!

Hopefully he can win a major caucus, then the media won't be able to ignore him.

I agree, I think Ron Paul as the smartest Republican (IMHO)...would you say the same for Gravel on the Democrat side?

Wow this is going to be close to the record.  I believe Kerry's record was 5.7 million in one day, with about 35 minutes left, Ron Paul has 5.69 Million.

Incredible!

NEW RECORD!  5.75 MILLION now with 27 minutes left.

The MSM has some explaining to do!

With him raising so much money, is it really the media shutting him out that prevent lotta people hearing about him? In South Carolina I've seen some Ron Paul but Huckabee is too strong.

We'll have to watch the news tomorrow to see what they say. If they don't give it attention I think we can definitively say yes.

C'mon let's do some strategic thinking here:

Paul isn't going to get the nomination...He will run as an independent, which he won't confirm or deny.  The money is coming from the left....they know he will strip votes from the GOP during the general election.  Its the same move the GOP did with Nader, which is why the Dems worked so hard to get Nader pulled off the ballot...and he was pulled of the ballot in my extremely left voting state of IL.

Paul has said repetitively that he won't run as an independent.  Personally I hope he would if he doesn't win the nomination, but I still think that he has a very good chance to win it.  Clearly the GOP has no candidate.  Do you honestly think Huckabee will get the nomination? Huh?

Also your suggestion that the Ron Paul money is only coming from "the left" is hilarious to me.  Ron Paul has struck a deep nerve with traditional conservatives who believe in the Constitution, small government, and personally liberty.  He's also bringing independents and some from the "left" who are really just antiwar, but then learned about the broader message of Dr. Paul.  I think the Establishment Left is very afraid of running against Ron Paul, that would be a complete nightmare for them!  The Dems only chance is to run against a scary neo-con they can paint as Bush III.  Do you know where most of Hillary's contributions are coming from?

Btw, Jimmy Carter, Michael Dukakis and Bill Clinton were all at about 1% in national polls pre-primaries in their respective Presidential elections and went on to win their party's nomination and two the White House.

Also it's looking like the official contribution numbers from the 16th will easily exceed the $6 MILLION mark after all the non-internet contributions are added.  Amazing!

This has never been done before.  Meanwhile the former GOP frontrunners are all falling apart.  A perfect storm is on the horizon.

I'm not blasting Dr. Paul, I like the guy...I'm just stating what I think is going on behind the scenes thats all.

Can you link your claims on him stating he would never run as an independent?
