Oh I hear you...it's certainly "going on behind the scenes".  But I think Paul is causing some cracks in The Wall...as we have seen in the past 24 hours.  Not sure if I can link the exact quote, but I've heard him say a couple of times he will not run as a 3rd party.  I believe one of the interviews was with Hannity post a Fox debate and is probably on YouTube.

And at this point how can he say anything else?  He wants to win the GOP nomination and restore the party back to conservatism...obviously many people want that to happen as well and are willing to fund the effort.

I'm not blasting Dr. Paul, I like the guy...I'm just stating what I think is going on behind the scenes thats all.

Can you link your claims on him stating he would never run as an independent?

It seems some major papers are posting about Ron Paul on their sites. Check out google news.

The money is coming from the left....they know he will strip votes from the GOP during the general election.  Its the same move the GOP did with Nader, which is why the Dems worked so hard to get Nader pulled off the ballot...and he was pulled of the ballot in my extremely left voting state of IL.

Are you serious? The left is contributing SO much that they just broke a Democrats record? Are you dense?

Your strategic thinking doesn't make any logical sense.

Yeah, I'm not doubting that he's being partially floated by the left, but I can't imagine that making making up for more than 15% of his war chest. I mean, why POSSIBLY would the left support him (monetarily) to the economic position he's in? It just doesn't make any sense.

It just amazes me how all this just rolls over the backs of the MSM... as if he didn't just make more money in a single day then any past candidate.

It's amazing... it really is...

Besides which, lkike the OP said, the average donation is $109. If the left was tryoing to get Paul to run as an Independant, the ground swell of effort that woyuld be needed toi get enough people, average people, to donate the effort would definitely be noticed.

Very true, Op. The thought of finding enough partisan donors (Democrats) to make an average like that transcends the capabilities of mere political sabotage.

I wish I had money to donate.........

But my money is my parents' money... and they probably wouldn't want me to give it to a politician, regardless of party (though especially a Republican).

How about this one.

It's NOT about the left or right supporting him.
It's about PATRIOTS supporting the ONLY candidate that thinks government should abide by the LAWS and RESTRICTIONS placed on the government.  It's about supporting the troops by NOT using them as the muscle for large MUTINATIONAL corporate intrests and to prop up foregn governments.
It's about NOT spending more money that you have, or borrowing more money than you can afford to pay back.
It's about NOT torturing people.
It's about a restoration of civil liberties in this country.

None of these issues are left or right.  They are NORMAL, EVERYDAY, AMERICAN, VALUES that have gone by the wayside to corrupt sold out politicians that don't give a sh-t one way or another about the people thay are supposed to be working for.

Government must obey the law too.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Our military is for our DEFENSE, NOT for aggression and IMPERIALISM.
We can't afford never-ending wars in the middle east.  We can't afford what we have spent already in Iraq and it's not even half over.
WE DO NOT TORTURE, EVER!!!!!  Not even to save your grand-ma.
We have RIGHTS in this country, and those RIGHTS are above the government, NOT subject to regulation, to restriction, to zoning, or anything else.
And the IRS is nothing more than a bully collection agency for the FEDERAL RESERVE a private company operating in OPPOSITION to the free market AND the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!

That's why people on both sides support him.

His voting record is why he is the most conservative republican representitive in the House, and has been for 21 YEARS!!!

I and my girlfriend actually went to his fund-raiser dinner in San Antonio at a $100 a plate, and have purchased all kinds of t's and signs and stickers.  I have NEVER spent a penny on any other candidate.
