As a certified boomer (age 57) I wonder if it could be resentment of us?

My mum is quite traditional and very fussy about manners and speech patterns (I get in trouble a lot for using slang and 'like' too much.)

At your young age you already write better than most of us here at this forum. I hope you give us the benefit of your opinions on a lot of things because your perspective is quite unique and interesting.

Hey thanks, but that's not what my English teacher says (even though English and English Literature are my best subjects). He says my spelling is bad (I do get a bit confused with words that have repeated letters like exaggerate or illiterate) and he gets on my case about 'like' as well.

But I always use spell check (the Brit version  Grin) when I can, and I keep a dictionary near when I am posting, and I never use SMS language. Also I preview my posts carefully, coz like people don't take notice of you if you don't express yourself well. Some of my mate go to political boards too (but not here) and they use SMS language, like "I no U will B txtg B4 I C U." And the oldies get mad at them. LOL!  Grin

But yeah, I do use 'like' too much in both my speech and writing. I try not to but it just sort of comes out when I'm speaking.

Anyway, have a great New Year everyone!  Cheesy
