Rudolph Diesel himself originally designed the engines to run on vegetable oil, peanut IIRC.
If I had a diesel I would be thinking about the veggie oil conversion.
Yes. My neighbor runs his deisel engine with canola oil straight into the tank. Works like a charm and is cheaper. Only problem being that his truck smells like french fries wherever it goes.
He has a diesel van which he can run right off of used kitchen oil,
which the resturant pays him to take away. Problem here is he needs two tanks, one for a little deisel and one for the kitchen oil. He needs to wait for the diesel to warm up the engine then he switches fuel while running using the oil.
Remarkable engine.
Ahk
I don't know of a way around the two tanks. Cuz the veggie oil will solidify, you need to run the motor to heat up the veggie oil. You also have to run the diesel when you shut it off too, you can't leave the veggie oil in the lines.
Used to be you get get cooking oil for free around here. Restaurants are actually selling their waste oil now, so they have to lock up the tanks out back. otherwise people will steal it. Can you believe it? They used to have to pay to have it hauled away, now they lock it up!
