Maybe it was too much hype, but this movie let me down. There was no fucking story line. Somebody wanna school me here?

There were a bunch of different things going on. But if you didn't pick up, oh well. I'm not going to try to convince you to like a movie..... To each their own.

I just don't understand the hype. What did you like about it? It was a decent movie. But it wasn't anything new.

It was well written and reminded me of high school.

I can agree with the well written part. I just don't understand why it was given the attention that it did.

There are SPOILERS below... if you care about such things.
Because it wasn't typical Hollywood. It wasn't typical story telling. It wasn't a typical happy ending. I just watched "The History Boys" and there's a great line: "I'm not happy... but I'm not unhappy about it," and this is what Juno is about.
A girl like Juno, given her disposition and situation, you'd expect her to get an adoption. But no, she elects to have the baby and give it up. She doesn't chicken out. She doesn't end up doing the "whoelsome" thing and keep it herself. She never considers an abortion after her first visit to the clinic and she didn't want to break her promise to Vanessa.
Plus, the fact that Vanessa and Mark broke up is interesting enough because once again, you just didn't really think it would happen. Yeah, you kinda anticipated it but you never thought it would happen so "cleanly".
So at the end, Juno gets Bleeker, Bleeker gets Juno, Mark gets the life he feels like he missed, Vanessa gets the child she always wanted... and everyone lives happily ever after... after a fashion.
And that's what made it interesting. To me, anyway.

Abraxas, you may be on to something. Maybe when first viewed, people were surprised. But because all of the hype, I sat there wondering what was going to happen, so nothing really came unexpected.

Yes, thank you. I do that in conversation too. I'll say one when I meant the other. Wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so radically different. Abraxas, you may be on to something. Maybe when first viewed, people were surprised. But because all of the hype, I sat there wondering what was going to happen, so nothing really came unexpected.
I was told that it was about a teenager that gets pregnant and doesn't get an abortion. Beyond that, I knew nothing. I guess you can't let friends spoil movies. My friends did that for "Sooper Troopers" and after I saw it... I didn't really find it NEAR as funny as they did. But I liked "Knocked Up", so maybe I wouldn't have liked "Sooper Troopers" anyway. I don't know. Point is: don't listen to your friends.

It was the fact that everywhere go I heard, "Did you see Juno? It was awesome!". So I was expecting something different. Not to mention the media latched onto the hype.
