Define the death of a country. I can't see it happening unless there is some sort of nuclear attack or the economy crashes hard. So far it hasn't.

This country as it was intended died long ago. Today it is a wretched compost of Trotskyite neoconservatism and Frankfurt School cultural marxism. True Americanists are forgotten by both establishment parties.

OswaldTheOsprey

I agree that our political system leaves much to be desired (to say the least), but it's quite a jump to equate this with the death of America.

We will eventually cease to exist as a country, every one of us will eventually die, this is reality. In a manner of speaking, we begin to die the moment we are conceived. The same time and aging mechanisms that turn us from zygote to person are also responsible for our eventual deaths. You could say the same about America, that we "began to die" as a country when the first settlers set foot on the continent.

Personally, I think the end of America is quite far off. Let's not be too pessimistic here, government and social problems are not unique to us, nor does it mean that our country is dead or dying.

To answer the OP though, I think complacency and intentional idiocy of the American people are to blame for the problems you mention. There are other causes, but I believe these things are at the root.

You said a mouthful in re complacency and idiocy. A hell of a lot of people can tell you who Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are but not who Nietzsche and Darwin were! Angry

OswaldTheOsprey

We are victims of our own conspicuous consumption and consumerism.  It is why we admire Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, the epitome of deep seeded cultural ideals. Those who were great and important do not matter.  What a sad story.  Americans are going to die being cheated out of their dreams never knowing that there was a whole different world out there to choose from.   :'(

Stupid Americans... *Said in a French accent* Cry me a river.  Roll Eyes

Human stupidity-the source of many problems.

Numerous things are ruining America.

The breakdown of the family is part of the problem. I'm not hating on single parent families, but the statistics don't lie about that.
The fact that a certain party in this country continues making laws that lower standards and make people reliant upon the government are another problem. Go back 100 years.... Your problems were your problems. People took responsibility for themselves. That feeling is now apparently gone.

Then there are some other things people already mentioned... The media, political correctness, etc.

Here is what's not responsible:

Gays, abortion, anti-war protestors, stem-cell research, drugs, etc.

All of those non-issues that plague the airwaves of the MSM.

I do think Brittney might be partially responsible though.

She, like Manson, is just a product of the system.

.... Nice smart %^& remark.
I have nothing against gays. It's my personal opinion that a partnership of two men or two women is just as good as a male/female partnership. Allow gay marriage.... Allow them to adopt. That way we can create MORE well off homes for the kids that have been given up. In reality that's just another way of bettering our society.

Stem cell research? All for it.

Wigs, you really shouldn't generalize me like that. I don't appreciate it.

Scumbags like Dick Cheney wants us to focus on Britney and Gays instead of the truth.

Hey Haliburton is stealing billions of dollars from US tax payers, but that doesn't matter CUZ THE GAYS ARE TRYING TO GET MARRIED

Another reason I think this country is going to crap is a student is arrested then tased for trying to speak his mind to John Kerry. There are tons of people in our country who are power hungry and brainwashed to do things like arrest people with baggy pants because "it's the law".
