As Terry quoted from wikki above Joseph, along with his father Jacob, and other Isralite prophets like Moses and Jesus (PBUT), are prophets of the one true God and in that sense they all were Muslim. Of course the fact that Reality man is not interested or informed about the religious aspects of the Muslim's belief is evident here. Maybe, "yilmaz",... in your rush insult my interest and knowledge of "Muslim beliefs", you missed a good portion of the humor... Was the bold print not enough for you? So now Joseph "was really a Muslim" (as the article/quote states) .... How convenient.... Yet WHO was it that tried to burn down Joseph's (The Muslim prophet's) tomb??.... And WHO was itwho destroyed parts of that same (Muslim prophet's) tomb years earlier?? ... Go ahead... You can answer. Gee... If they treat "Muslim" historical sites this way, I wonder what they'd do to Jewish or Christian sites if given a chance?? lol  |

Joseph wasn't Muslim. Joseph wasn't at all. If "Muslim" means "adherent of God" "although where is Allah" in the word?), then the first Muslims were the Jews. The irony is that both Christians and Muslims accuse Jews of betrayal of God, having adopted their faith. At least the Muslim belonging of Joseph isn't used for territorial claims, unlike the Promised Land.

No, the first Muslim was Adam. All of the prophets mentioned in the Quran are accepted as being Muslim. Muslim simply means one who submits to the will off the one true god of the monotheists. There should be no surprise here.
As for realityman: It was the Palestinians who attacked and damaged the burrial site, that is why the Palestinian Authority made the announcement that you find so funny. The premise of the announcement is correct, that Islam accepts Joseph to be one of the prophets of God and as such he is a Muslim and damaging his grave is as much an affront to Muslims as it is to Jews... What's funny about that? As I said this is illustrative of your ignorance of Islam and you probably thought this could be spun into showing the Palestinians to be morons.....

Aster all muslim means the one who submits. the first Muslim was Adam. and he was the first sinner. Among males, at least. Hebrew, Muslim, all is modern as far as what my family believes. That is , there is one God, not 15-20 (incl. Islam and Judaism). We believe that all religions 'Gods' are One and same. We call it the 'Omega Point'. And yes, we are Pagan and pre-date Christianity (Paganism is over 4,000 years old, I'm not real sure exactly how long) all known religions but White Wiccan, which we are. All are welcome to their belief, and do ye no harm!

Actually you would find that most religions including judaism found their route in 'zoroastrianism' which predates all the three main religions.

I thought the Jews lost it (the muslimhood) since they betrayed Mohamad (PBUH). But since they rejected one muslim prophet (Jesus), it makes sens. Except that you can reject Jesus and still believe in one God. So the definition of "muslim" is not the one who believe in one God, but the one who does so and also, among other things, believe in Jesus. Mow, Yilmaz, please tell us why christians are not muslims? Or are we? Soon to be moved to the religion forum |
