it looks different from under black skin. Maybe Michele Obama couldn't be proud before because of the US policy towards South Africa. Or because there had, and stil has, remained virulent but stifled racism among the Southern WHite mainstream. Maybe because there was the "WHite Flight" from the cities into the racially pure suburbs, which she took as a manifest rejection of racial intergration. Maybe because there were totally surreal grandiose military expenditures in the absense of a commeasurable threat at the whim of the military manufacturers, while people, especially blacks, were dying regularly because they were denied medical attention. Maybe. Maybe she found it hard to be proud of that.

Roll Eyes here we go again with the poor black people card Roll Eyes give me f freakin break already that cards been warn out and should be played by someone who wasnt involved with slavery or the jim crowe laws. she seized her oppertunity here and if its not enough she can move on to another nation offering more then she already recieved here.

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol said the comment “was sort of revealing.”

“She was an adult when we won the Cold War without firing a shot. She was an adult for the last 25 years of economic progress, social progress,” he told FOX News. “I think the Democrats have to be careful … they’re running against the status quo … You have to be careful not to let that slide into a kind of indictment of America. Because I don’t think the American people think on the whole that the last 25 years of American history is a narrative of despair and nothing to be proud of.”

also im glad she said adult life cause from what i hear shes had the american dream including the collage. Roll Eyes

it is attacks like this that really bring the entire level of politics down a rung

I agree but politics have gone from real issues down to 10 second bytes. Obama has surged into the polls on nothing more than one word....'HOPE.' The marketing is brilliant. His marketing is the exact opposite of, say, Ross Perot, who buys and hour of air time to explain things.

It doesn't sell. Short words do.
The word "hope "is in fact just a word ,and if all Obama had was a word he would have ended his campaign in Iowa. However what Obama does have is the vision to see what the country can and should be and the oratory skills to instill this "hope" in the hearts and minds of the American people at a time when the future of our country is looking depressingly bleak. He can instill hope that the ideals of fairness and equality the nation was founded on still can guide us and better us. It is typical of a republicon to analyze the words of a speaker and miss the content. It doesn't surprise me that all new rule can see is a "marketing strategy" and miss the sincere ideological convictions that drive the words.
He doesn't just give us the word "hope" ...he gives us  ...  hope.

I don't get sucked into empty rhetoric and platitudes. I don't faint over would-be presidential candidates.

My 'hope' comes from a MUCH higher source than a politician who THINKS he somehow, through his 'oratory skills', 'instill hope that the ideals of fairness and equality.'

Actually, you sound like a sucker...no offense intended...and you let Reaganite nail you when a Congressman who SHOULD know what the man stands for, doesn't have the 'oratory skills' to articulate even one accomplishment, beyond a good speech, of course.

The marketing has worked magic on you. Coming from a man in the business of advertising, Obama's marketing group is somewhat impressive, I suppose.
