The money hand-off is wrong. Why? It's like I accept to be your friend: it's only $100 per day. It's wrong because it's much better without money. Better without does not mean wrong with.

I have a friend who owns a bar. When I go there, I pay for my drinks. He could easily give me free beer, but I understand he's in business. I tip his bartenders, even though most of them are friends of mine, and I wouldn't if they were grabbing me one out of the fridge at my house. Drinking a beer in a bar is no more wrong than drinking one at someones house, where no money changes hands. Generally I agree with Fred's point about it being better without cash involved, but it still doesn't make it wrong.

As a conservative and a religious man, Im inclined to say that morally, both dont matter. I dont care what other people choose to do and fully support their right to do so as long as they arent sticking it in my face. I enjoy porn though, and wouldnt discount the possibility of being with a hooker at some point. I wouldnt imagine it as a regular event though. Morally, hey, its not that bad.

Maybe defining what YOU mean by "conservative and religious" would help. As a "conservative and a religious man", I find striking inconsistencies with your statement. Maybe it's just a product of 21st-century secularism?

Patton: As a conservative, I see the conservative movement going back to the beginning of the USA. Minimal government involvement, lower taxes, you know. Not so many of the christian values, though I tend to associate more so with judaism and buddhism. Basically I dont care what other people do as long as they arent getting in the way of my living my own life the way I want to. I also view religion as a highly subjective thing, being somewhat outside of mainstream judaism, while taking more of the cultural values from them and my spiritual beliefs from buddhism, though without a lot of their supernatural aspects. I do enjoy porn and would find being with a hooker to be an interesting experience, and morally, I dont see them as infringing upon other peoples rights/freedoms.

OK, I see.......you are "somewhat outside of mainstream" religion......I don't know if that qualifies you as being "religious" What does a Rabbi say about porn and hookers? If by "conservative" you mean "Minimal government involvement, lower taxes"......libertarians espouse these values also....."conservative" means alot more than what you have described. I think you are still in search of proper labels for yourself.

Patton: The way I see religion is like the way that Paul Tillich describes it; he says that religion is a persons ultimate concern. The ultimate concern could very well be the religious principles they live under, like following the bible or whatever. Just write a list of the top 10 important things to you. The #1 should be your religion. A lot of people choose their family, their health, their faith and their happiness as important to them. You can see why these things could be seen as religions, as a lot of people mold their lifestyles around their personal interests. I see religious people all the time. My father for example is religious in his nature to his protection of his family. He works hard and provides for us. He doesnt go to an organized church, but then, a church is really where someone comes to pray and be holy. Its not holy until the people go there to make holy (or at least thats how muslims think). I suppose his church could be our home.
Philosophical, anyone?

What is wrong is that for both (the client and the one who offer her/his body) the satisfaction (if any) is not the same as in a free relationship. While having a drink with friends at a bar and socialize is often more fun than at home with the TV.

Is pornography not most of the time just prostitution with the event being filmed and both parties being payed? Maybe some people like the idea of other people watching and do it for free, seems kind of strange thought. I guess that if you believe that selling ones body is a sin both are just as bad, watch porn is lust I think as well and all sins seem to be equal in the bible, as it dams you to hell if you dont repent.

Moraly, I think prostitution is worse than pornography, because you can watch porn movies together with your wife, but I don't believe she knows about the hookers you paying with money that are supposed to be used for household items, i.e. you cheat her with money too. Moraly, twice wrong: one for the hooker, one for the stealing. Shame on you, John

zx128k You would be amazed with the truth. Many of female porn models realy enjoy being filmed or the ambiance of the movie production team. Of course most of them do it for the money and none do it for free (I think) but there are many who do it mainly for fun. That's why you have so many low quality "amateur" movies. But in general, i would say yes, all the porn actress are whore. It doesn't change if they like it or not since they are paid.
cauboi I agree with that. But bear in mind that pornography also cost money (albeit much less). As for watching porn with my whife, we tried it a few times but it became clear very fast that it was pointless. Not that we didn't like it (we choose stuffs that we both wanted and agree to watch), but it was completely superflous, more like we were losing our time.
Now the question is for someone who has no mate (and nobody to cheat to), what is worse: Porn or Prostitution (use of)?

In that case, nothing is immoral. And I am not talking about religious "immoral" but social accepted norm "immoral" Not to forget that the Bible is the most read pornographic material, where all the incests, rapes, extra-marital affairs are described with such detail, I would say the perverts who wrote that book really enjoyed this kind of stuff.
