Hello!  I'm very very new, but I am searching for a board that stands up to being involved instead of talking about it.  I know people have their reasons to not get involved, but right now is a very good time to put your effort into saving something that is being lost in our country, which is everything, so take your pick.

I'm not into peace marches, but they are good.  I don't have the time or abilibity to travel to most political events, but a petition is a good way to say I don't like what is going on.  I made a small petition that I hope to get started.  It seems that Boston and Washington D.C. Mayors have decided to go to house to house in illegal searches to find illegal guns.  They say anything they find, they will give leniency and not prosecute if they volunteer to be searched, but isn't this a beginning to something worse?

I think something should be done about it, so I wrote this very short petition, but to the point and I want people to consider it.  I didn't see your policy rules leaving out petitions, so I took a chance at posting it.  Please send it to every person you know to get word around to everyone to stand up and protect your constitutional rights.  Even if you believe in gun control, you must know this is the step in a very bad direction and the government has no right to ask to enter anyone's home.

This is the link and if you care to sign, please do:

Here are two articles about the seaches:

I have read the articles. It looks like the police ask permission before entering, if not given permission then they will not search unless they have a warrant. I do not see anything wrong with this givin the current day crisis of school shootings and kids getting high on drugs. You came to a disscussion forum asking for people to sign a petition without reason except that it infringes on our constitutional rights. Which right will that be? The right to bear arms? As long as you register your weapon you have nothing to worry about.  Or is it the right to a private residence, from which others may be excluded? Still the police ask permission before entering, they will not just enter. So why should I sign this petition? What wrong is it doing?

I wouldn't expect a response if I were you.  He looks like a one post wonder, not someone actually looking for discussion and involvement.

I'm a she, not a he, and it does violate the right to bare arms, plus they are even with permission violating the rights of the citizen.  That is coercement at least to have the police go door to door looking for illegal guns.  They only did this out of retribution because they gave Washigton D.C. the right to own a legal hand gun again after years of banning it.

It's only a matter of time before this is at your door for dogs that don't have dog tags, a missing shovel from a neighbors backyard, and any other stupid reason they can find to enter your home.  That does scare off people who would like to defend themselves to government intrusion.

Some one sitting back and inviting it in because of the actions of todays people really isn't involved enough to decide being half is coming from the police itself pushing it just so they can have a reason to make stupid rules like this.  Sit back on your duff on this all you want, but it will be at your doorstep soon enough supposedly protecting you from something.  You be a fool, but normal people in the U.S. know this is a violation and it should be stopped.

OswaldTheOsprey thanks for the welcoming!  Nice to meet you and everyone else, even if I seem to disagree with them on this post.

If you want to bare your arms, go ahead and wear short sleeves.  I doubt anyone will say anything to you about it.

You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

Police use TAX-PAYER dollars to go door-to-door and "ask" to search a persons home.  You must be an idiot if you can't see not only the potential for abuse by the police "asking" to search a home, but also the incredible waste of money and man-power to perform these inherently illegal searches.

Minors involved school shootings are on the decrease!!!  And kids getting "high on drugs" isn't going to stop just because cops force their way into homes.

And, "as long as you register your weapon, you have nothing to worry about," comment shows that you are not only simpethetic to the creeping fascism enslaving this country; (read Orwell's 1984)

Ain't No Need to Worry
http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0523-25.htm

but you are also IGNORANT of the issue.  The DC MAYOR has said specifically that he wants to BAN ALL GUNS FROM DC!!!  And that is exactly what this case is about.  Whether a mayor of a city can BAN GUNS!!!

However, even that aside, you completely misunderstand the 2nd Amendment if you believe that registering guns is somehow okay in this F-CK-N country.  The last step of every DICTATOR ,in the history of the post-gun invention world, prior to seizing control of his country, was to register weapons and then seize them!!!!  But go on and tell me that fascism and dictatorship can't possibly happen here in the USofA, right?  "We should all trust our government."  Right?  "'cause they have NEVER done anything to ever hurt us."  Right?
