Hi guys. Happy Seasons. I wish you all the best of times these days and a New Year filled with bountiful health, good friends and family, and fluid capital.

Thank you Terrapin. It's so nice to talk to you again. I hope you had a wonderful season as well and wish you and yours a happy and prosperous 2009

IAP has changed a lot. In the old days, a season's greetings thread would have had at least 30 replies  Grin It's a man's club now.

As for me, I have indeed had a wonderful Christmas. Everybody in Lebanon feels the same so much that we're are even talking about it. Well we've had a great summer too. Things have been simply great in Lebanon for quite some time now. We haven't even been affected by the global financial crisis and our banks and economy are still going strong. I even got a significant raise the same week economy was going all over the place  Grin Such a strange feeling not to be in the middle of whatever is going wrong in the world. Touch wood haha

Hoping that what is going on in countries surrounding us ends soon, and if not, remains in said countries and doesn't spread Grin

I hope you and most people you know and posters here haven't been affected by the economic meltdown. I often wondered, but I never have too much time to post anymore. Today is off, and I kinda stayed up very late last night. So I thought I might do some catching up here  Smiley

Glad to hear that there is optimism somewhere in the world!  Haha!  Nice to see you here also Cedar.  Two long missing posters in one thread.  Wow...

Hi Biker,

I guess in Lebanon, we always walk opposite the global trend haha

But let's hope things remain this good. What's happening in the region isn't good, not to mention we have elections coming in a few months. We might as well take advantage of the current situation and have some fun while it lasts  Grin

Hope all is good with you  Smiley

I'm very glad to hear things are better there CP. Your report sounds very upbeat.

I am well, thank you. We live in a beautiful place with nice neighbors. Some of them seem to have some hard times looming ahead though.

Where I live most of us have guarded optimism about our new Prez (most anything is a step up). None the less, we Americans have burned the candle at both ends for quite awhile now and it remains to be seen whether Obama can do much about our current predicaments. Bush has left some big messes to clean up. I wouldn't blame you if you thought Obama sounded like just another cog in the same old pro-Israel machine. Maybe he is. He has billed himself as more of a man of peace though, and he certainly seems to have more respect for other cultures than Bush has. Unfortunately we've all been lied to so many times by politicians only a fool would take any of them at their word without some doubt.

Take care CP. I hope to hear from you again.

Hiii neo. It's so nice to talk to you again.

Well actually I regularly make guest appearances on IAP  Cool, but I never post. I have visited a lot during the elections, and again during the economic crisis (I read all of Jeri's posts about the issue  Grin. Where is he BTW?). I had forgotten how tired I get from posting, and after a few posts, I now remember why I made the decision to stop. I don't even have a facebook account.

I wish you all the best for the new year.

Terrapin,

Everybody around the world was rooting for Obama. Granted, no one here believes the basics of the American policy regarding the ME will change, we just hope the approach will be more peaceful. Bush was simply too violent. You'd think he was raised in the ME  Grin

Jeri is in limbo of moving to another continent...not sure when he'll be settled.  Now that I know you're a lurker, I'll have to PM you when I have any Lebanon questions Wink

take care

Well I used to visit without logging on for like a minute except when something important was going on and there was something to read. Now I will make sure to log on at least once a week and check my PMs. One never knows when you might plan another ME visit  Wink although I strongly don't recommend it now as our Israeli friends have just had another tantrum  Grin

I guess we'll see.

Once we lower our weapons and step off the line, I wonder who believes we won't be struck again?

Once that happens, does he mimick Carter with the hostages and Clinton in Somalia by rolling over?

Peace is only the time between wars.....pacifists decry our profession until they bleed....then they crawl to us for retribution.....hypocracy in it's purest form.
