In case you haven't been following his story, someone took this little boy and poured gasoline on him and lit him on fire in Iraq. He went from a happy little boy to a disfigured little boy with much pain and resentment for those around him without disfigurement. His parents sought help and after being repeatedly denied any, contacted the news. So, CNN posted his story asking for donations and support, and it came in abundance, so now he's over here for six months going through surgery (or surgeries) to fix his disfigurement. His mother's name has been published (first, not last), but not his father's out of fear that someone will harm them.

While over here, a group of weirdos started worshiping him at the beach: http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/wayoflife/09/18/youssif.beach/index.html

I think what happened to him personifies the disgusting horror of Iraq. It just kind of makes me sick that America's collective guilty conscience has become nothing more than another cheesy reality TV show. And, how can this family ever be safe again when they go back to Iraq, when they have so obviously sold out to the Americans and let themselves be used in American propaganda (anti war or otherwise)? We all know that they can never go home. But the real question is, are they safe even in America, when the national media has done everything but given out their exact address of the apartment complex in Diamond Bar, California?

worshiped him?  Huh?

they were praying for him and rightly so.
now i personally wouldnt have done that but i see no harm in it.
they gave his family a chance to decline and they didnt.

great story though, thanks for sharing it.
i hope we can protect him and his family in some way.

I thought it was funny, it looks like they're worshipping him as if he's the Mesiah. Smiley

If only Bush could use his crazy executive powers to declare Youssif a citizen of the U.S. and keep him here, then he could perhaps have a chance at life. For all that he stands for to us, he's bound to be a target when he goes home. That is something I don't want to happen.

exactly... isn't there like some exile type thing we can do since sending him home is the same as murder?

if we took the Dominican republic president out of his country for fear of his life then why not youssif?
