These Chinese posters who say there is "free speech" or "open discussion" in China are lying and they know it. If you participate in the "CHINA DAILY" forum and make comments critical of the dictatorship, you will be banned from the site! I made comments on that site (when they could get past the "word filters", or weren't deleted to skew the debate) and after winning arguments with the pro-China posters there, I was banned! Don't believe a word of it! This "we have free discussion too" is a pantload! These people (the Communist Party in China) are indeed the same "GOONS AND THUGS" they were during the Cultural Revolution, Cafferty was absolutely correct. I would encourage people from the West to post on that site (until they are inevitably banned) and see some of the extreme, hateful, bizzare and racist comments that pass for "discussion" in China. I am sure that you will be appalled! The Beijing Olympics should never have been awarded to that disgusting regime, it just legitimizes their abuses.

So you maintain that it's an "open forum"? That just shows you to be a liar; too bad that you are "rediculed"(sic) here on this forum by your obvious lies!

I think, on the contrary, it just opens more the eyes and the noses of the world to the stink that emanates from the rotten  regime. The dying communist dinosaurs realized they made a big mistake by opening themselves too much to the West.
Now they are trying to repair whatever they can, by throwing in all this propaganda war we've seen in the last couple of months.
Wait, let's see what will happen, it is just getting more interesting from now , I just relax, sit back and watch the show.

No, this is not the truth.  when the foreigners go to the beijing to watch olympics, they will see very beautiful city with many modern shops and supermarketmalls.  they will be the very surprised at the sight.  it is not the same as you people think.

None of us are contending that China's cities or economy aren't, in some sense at least, modern.  I object to China's tyranny, not its poverty.

I don't think China is under oppression, tyrany or something like, say 50 years ago.
But as long as chinese think that they are the best in the world and that Mao tse Tung was a good leader "who also did great things for China", they will be retards by 25 years.

ROFL - get some chinese friends maybe and have them explain a few things about life in china ?

Let me guess - you assume the chinese live under tyranny because their government is "communist" ,right ?

If you missed it - the cold war is over ? Or perhaps you are just out to start a new one ?

No.

It's a tyranny because the dictatorship can and has machine-gunned hundreds, if not thousands, of peaceful pro-democracy demonstrators in cold blood on the streets of the capital city.

It's a tyranny because the dictatorship determines how many people can be in your family and forces its decisions upon you, decisions that violate natural human rights, such as the right to procreate.

It's a tyranny because parents of bereaved schoolchildren are beaten and hauled away by the police when they attempt to protest against the government that failed them horribly, while Western journalists are scooted aside and a media censors swing into force.

It's a tyranny because the dictatorship strongly and sternly enforces censorship and media control, e.g. "The Great Firewall of China."

It's a tyranny because you are not permitted to freedom of religion to worship freely, ala Falun Gong.

It's a tyranny because it's brutal, corrupt government that permits schoolchildren to die by the thousands in "tofu schools" while the government buildings of the Communist Party stay erect.

It's a tyranny because the good people of China have no freedom of choice in their government.

It's a tyranny because the good people of China are denied their natural rights to life, liberty and property.

That should be clear to everyone, even someone as dense as yourself.

This post, like most of Beijing, is filled with garbage.

Beijing has somewhere around 55 blue-sky days a year.  Just think about that for a moment.

The Communist government has done such a despicable and negligent job of managing resources that it has sucked all the water dry.  The desert is now miles away from Beijing.  They get sandstorms (sandstorms!) through the city in the spring.

There is no zoning in Beijing.  If you've ever been there you quickly get a sense at just how ugly this city is.  In the middle of a residential neighborhood you'll have a chemical factory spewing out black sludge into the local river.  The city is dotted with smokestacks - which will be conveniently shutdown for the Olympics.

The legions of beggars and street people are systematically rounded up and either imprisoned and deported to some godforsaken place in the west.

The Olympic athletes can't even train in Beijing because their lungs burn from the rampant sulfur and other pollutants in the air.

Beijing is ugly, dirty, gray and poor - that's if you can see it through the smog, sandstorms, and pollution.

You're lucky if you can see the sun.

So cute. Embarrassed

Tell me, are you a sisy, or what? Since when you measure the beauty of a city from how many shopping malls it has ? We are talking about dirt here, not that you can buy some fancy electronics near a pile of garbage.
Maybe you should define beauty first, I guess we don't have same idea about that.

You sound like a commercial: "come to my city, go shop around". Do you think that I have nothing else to do? don't I have enough chinese junk to buy in my own city? or maybe the original junk is fresher than what I can buy in the West Grin
