It is legit to make this argument, if the experience is true, yet I find most who tell this story are liars trying to legitimize their basic hatred of an entire economic class

That's the finding you make, that most are liars. Who made you the arbiter of truth?

Reaganite is a liar when he claimed to have grown up "dirt poor." I call a spade a spade and don't care what you think.

Did you know him when he was growing up? Rather than calling a spade a spade, you are simply demonstrating your enormous amount of unmitigated gall. Who cares what you think?

OswaldTheOsprey

Listen, did you read all the posts? No. I called him on his lie of "dirt poor." And he described a life that wasn't "dirt poor". Whenever he describes the life of the poor, it is clear he has no clue what he is talking about. THAT IS CALLED A LIAR. It is a lie commonly told by those who hate the poor, something very common in this country.

So, what the hell is it your business, Naziboy? Go stick your nose back up Buchanan's butt and pull out another "brilliant" observation from Pat.

Alright, this is getting ridiculous, guys. Stop or the thread gets locked.

Personal economic desparity is irrelevent and so is citing the percieved wealth of another.

In most arguments about everything, Americans will use their personal experiences. When it comes to economics, the personal anecdote of "coming up from poverty from the bootstraps" is a common argument from those who are trying to bolster their reflexive hatred of the poor with fake stories of knowing "what it is like." It is legit to make this argument, if the experience is true, yet I find most who tell this story are liars trying to legitimize their basic hatred of an entire economic class, and ignorance of that class as lazy royalty living on welfare. Exposing the lie exposes the basic ignorance which is relevant to the argument.

Call it ridiculous if you wish but Reaganite and his ilk are common and I have no problem exposing them.

lol.. ok mr "i dont pay income tax" .. I hope you enjoy what I give you.

Like I say, reading is fundimental, moron, I have said 85 million times I do pay taxes. I stated it in several different ways but you don't understand complex sentences. MY TAXES TAKE AWAY FROM MY RENT AND FOOD, stupid, not fun money or tuition for private school.

Correct you dont pay INCOME TAXES.. my money is given to you and you pay you rent and buy food with my money which is taxed.. so I AM THE ONE paying taxes twice on that money you never pay taxes on earnings.  YOu are a leach on the ass of society.

We'll try small sentences okay?

I pay tax out of my paycheck?

With me so far?

Got it?

Are you sure?

I'll say it again:  I pay tax out of my paycheck?

Okay, now I'm going to ADD an idea.

ALL OF MY INCOME GOES TO FOOD AND RENT

THEREFORE

MY TAXES HURT MORE, WAY MORE THAN YOURS. BECAUSE MY TAXES ARE TAKEN AWAY FROM MORE IMPORTANT THINGS THAN YOURS.

YOU DON"T PAY A FUCKING SINGLE DIME FOR ME YOU BRAINDEAD MORON.

I REPEAT:

YOU DON"T PAY A FUCKING SINGLE DIME FOR ME YOU BRAINDEAD MORON.

You have a job making just enough to pay rent and buy food means you dont pay taxes.. anyone that makes under 20k does not pay much if any income taxes.

Just because i work 12-14 hr days and work had to improve my life does not mean you have to be mad you are poor...

Go home to moomy and ask her to give you some of her foodstamps and government cheese.

Even if Reaganite truly was impoverished and supported himself to improve his living standard, is it possible that this was an exception to what normally occurs in the United States, or that, as Irwin suggests, Reaganite was not as disadvantaged as he claims? Currently, the United States has the highest percentage of people living below the median income, as well as the greatest number of children born into poverty (among the developed countries).

So I ask: How would the poor be affected if welfare benefits were no longer provided? Would their prospects for advancement improve or suffer?
