Wo! When did voting for the guy with the same skin color as you become racist?

Neue is right. If they're voting for him CAUSE he's black, then that it just as bad as voting against him cause he's black... but what's wrong with voting for him cause you think a black president would be good for the country? Or better yet that Obama (as the man, not the ethnicity) would be good for the country?

It's not unreasonable to think that just as many people voting for Obama cause he's black are voting against him for the same reason. Take a look at Stormfront and you may see some of them.

Basically, why the fuck does it have to be about race? It just doesn't help the situation of either side.

I was wondering about a similar line too, I wasn't going to go to call people racist, but I am curious about "black" voters voting as a block. Is that normal and being given arbitrary media attention or did I miss it other times or is that really something new?  I'm also a little curious about what black means in those statistics.

80%+ whites are not voting against Obama. I think there is a difference between community that is based on being racist being racist and a demographic aligning behind someone who might fall into the demographic depending on definitions.

I understand Obama creates quite the buzz in some circles and I'd expect the more people talk about such things  the more they will tend to agree. I see this as another facet of Obama's social networking [positive spin word for virus] that has charged up his fans across all demographics.

As an aside does stormfront and related really have a political machine worth considering? I understand thinking race matters, but are there many who think that's the most important issue? And these are primaries, are there democrats who think that way? I think it's bad to give stormfront-ers more importance than they deserve.

Actually, before Obama proved himself in Iowa, an overwhelmingly white state, most blacks supported Clinton. Bill was beloved by blacks, even called the "first black president" because of Kenneth Starr's Congressional lynching...until Bill made a fool of himself with personal attacks on Obama. Obama proved, unlike Jesse Jackson, that he could get a white vote. When blacks realized Obama was no Jesse Jackson, like Catholics who came out for Kennedy, they went to bat for him. They saw a black man that could actually do it. The Republicans should have figured out a way to run Powel. He might have gained the black vote for a generation for them. They went with Bush because Powel was smart enough to refuse.

Reaganite, the entire country can be broken up into blocs. Even those that vote for a Republican - like Evangelicals, for instance.
