I read this line and its sorta stuck in my head...

Quote
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

Why should we give a crap about what other countries think of us when it comes our air conditioners, and what we eat?

Does Obama (who owns SUV's) think we should Outlaw SUV's and ration food and mandate tempetures at 80 degress??

I am just curious if this si what he believes or was he just pandering to the Oregon greenies?

So he's not an arrogant D-bag? Cool.

I think he was putting it into prespective, using our diets and air conditioners as an example. I also don't think he's going to enforce any of this like you pretend he will.

I think he's just trying to get people aware that we're all sharing this planet and it's hard to enjoy our luxuries when other parts of the world are in extreme poverty. The world hunger crisis doesn't get better when food prices go up cause the cost of production has gone up cause the cost of oil has gone up.

Basically, he's just saying we should be more aware of what we NEED... and what we WANT.

He's not asking for us to give up our luxuries - only monitor our use of them.

The rest of the world may very well thank us.

I'm pretty sure he never said that.

[read again]

Yup. He never said that.

Or maybe he's saying it cause it's true?

You juist said you believe he did not actually wish to do anything about the above mentioned issues.. If he has no plans for bill or laws that would make cahnges planned then he was indeed simply pandering and or lying for votes.

Its ok though I expect that from all politicians and its refreshing to know Obama the Messiah is no differant Smiley

Or maybe he was just making people aware...

When you come here and post your inane crap, do I say you're pandering to the IAP community? No. You're just making us aware of your opinion.

Obama's comments are no difference.

I'm not saying politicians don't pander, but few say things in such contrast to established norms...

Any word if anyone feinted during his appearance? I know how weak-kneed his constituency tends to be.

With due respect, is there one place Obama has broken with the party line?

Yes I heard that all of the above occured char mar. But his greatest miracle was outside of the realm of possibility for the republicon nominee...you see he motivated the people who will elect him as the next president. Grin

I'm still not with you. How is he different from John Kerry? He is barely different from Hillary.

Oregon River? Huh?  That'd be more amazing, since he'd have to call it into existence before walking it.

Attention.

Obama is sayin' it and people can hear him.

Listening is up to them - and that's his point. Self-moderation.

McCain's ideas on future power generation don't go beyond his own nose. A gas tax holiday? Cosmetic, at best, and it would probably do more harm in the long run then simple conservation and a switch to alternative energy INSPIRED (not directed) by government.

And for the record, I'm not saying Obama is this kind of guy either. I'm just saying what *I* (and you too, probably) want.

Look, neither Obama or McCain is what we're looking for - so why are we arguing over how much more we hate the other guy?
