It's his misfortune to be running against an extraordinarily accompished opponent, Senator Clinton. The Democratic Party is blessed with two, rather than just one, exceptional candidates. The close race to date is a result of strength, not weakness. I had to do a double take on this one. The Democrats are running two junior senators. Period. Accompished? Accompished at what? What legislation can you pin on either one of these two? That is plain silly.

Twice elected governor of Texas. By all accounts did pretty well.
Of course the better comparison is to McCain.

Governor of Texas? The weakest governorship in the country?

Character and principles sound like the selling points of Bush in '00. I think it's difficult to accurately judge 3rd hand the character or principles of someone with a pr department.

The fact that character and principles have been cynically used in political campaigns does not invalidate their importance. Your second point has some merit but still one can investigate on one's own and plow through the bs. OswaldTheOsprey
