But freethinker, the polygamists out in Wonderland do more than just marry many women. They marry blood-related family members and under-age children. These things are illegal for safety reasons.

I follow LDS (A.K.A. Mormon) teachings and that isn't one of them. That ended 100+ years ago and it gets you excommunicated today. I attend church regularly and the last member of my church I met who even hinted that a that practice would be a good thing to go back to supporting was someone nutty who I met over ten years ago. This is even the case among members of my faith who are descendants of people involved in "plural marriage"(I'm one of them). The only "Mormons" involved in such things are splinter groups who left over a century ago. They might call themselves "Mormons", but few LDS people would call them that.
