I have heard that states that applicated Capital punishment have a low rate of crimes...  In the US, 1.3 adult women are forcibly raped each minute!!!

I know that Some lawyers and religious personalities outside US are calling for Capital punishment against those criminals.

I personaly see it unfair that those perverses are jailed for a little while than getting freed.

Well, I'm against Capital Punishment anyway, but I hope that if it were EVER to be implemented, it would be done so ONLY because that person took the life of another.

Rape is a horrible, horrible thing... but I don't care what anyone says, death is worse...

But again, I don't think "government" should kill its own citizens anyway. It's inappropriate for a civilized society to think it deters crime. We have a high prison population NOT because we don't kill enough people... but because we punish minor offenses with ridiculous prison sentances.

The whole system needs to be revamped.

But either way, I vote no... and so did the Supreme Court.

Given the broad way this poll question was phrased I also voted no.
One must consider all possible situations before applying a blanket punishment, especially death sentences.
Consider; An 18 year old boy who has consensual sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Technically he is a pedophilliac rapist. Should he be put to death??
This is obviously not the type of case that was in mind when the question was posed, but more specific conditions should be included in the construction of the question.

don't calculate the matters like a childish,
the rate of rape is more than horrible!..because the state didn't react and is unable to propose inefficacious penalties , hence it should be modified.

Those criminals who are freed quickly would find the right area to back to their behavior as soon as it is possible; take the case of one of the most Wanted fugitives by FBI (black listed ) rabbi Alan Horowitz who has long story with trials since 1983, arrested many times and found guilty of 41 sex-child rape, he went to jail and didn't see freedom until 2004. When Horowitz was released in 2004, he was told he was on parole until 2011...

he was again wanted by police  and hardly arrested in India in 2007:
http://www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=41997
http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=41997

Those kind of criminals merit perpetual prison or death penalty, ...capital punishment wouldn't be  constant mechanic  operation, in few months it would highly decrease conjointly with rape. death capital would be very occasional.

rape is more dangerous than murder, because it kills the psychological status of the family and society!

Well at least rape victims are victims in the West as opposed to being perceived as part guilty because they were unaccompanied by a man, and then being sentenced to a caning.

We could, I suppose, instead of spending all this time and money tracking down and convicting rapists/pedophiles and compiling stats on them and exposing it as an open problem...instead of that I suppose we could just take an official position that they don't actually exist. Presto: no problem.

Are you familiar with places like that mr.'penitent'?

The south, where capital punishment is the most utilized has always led the country in murder rate

I wonder if they still advocate lynching still, too...

Roll Eyes

Sorry penitent, but there is very little that can be said that hasn't been said that proves capital punishment is ANY deterent against anything. Furthermore, actually ENFORCING it for people that haven't killed anyone themselves is hard to imagine.

But for the longest time we killed kids and the mentally disabled... so I guess I shouldn't pretend like our leaders are really all that enlightened...

Countries that don't have state murder of criminals also have low crime rates. There is no deterrent effect of capital punishment whatsoever.

here you go, pedoprophet!
1.from the same website you used as your source, pakilanders like yourself never read last lines in small letters which usually the most important ones.
Quote
DEFINITION: Note: Crime statistics are often better indicators of prevalence of law enforcement and willingness to report crime, than actual prevalence.
2.moreover 'crimes per capita' is the one that matters.
3.the website above makes possible to create fine statistical logs but log's creators are regular human beings who got registered on website. so yeah crime rate in US is much above anyone else.

to sum that up listen to meh!
If in your turbanland, you have few million Arabs rape who young girls like uncle Muhammad taught them to and she never reports so she won't be stoned to death of course the crime rates are lower when those rapist possibly participate in online votes which make such statistics

They don't. If a crime is only a crime when it's reported or awknoledged. You might note that rape has actually gone done in the West, even without the death penalty.

Care to explain that?

Playing with statistics is like playing with a flamethrower, you can burn anyone any direction you chose.
