Thank you mdma!

¡Sí, sí, sí, la Copa ya está aquí!

Madrid yesterday evening.

Great game folks!
Germany only existed in the first 15 minutes of each half.
The game could have easily ended with 3-0.
The waiting is over. Spain are the champions of Europe, 44 years after our last victory.
This winning means more than that.
For the very first time in the life of many spaniards, most of us, do feel pride for our country and our national flag. This is something no one has achieved before, not even Rafael Nadal or Indurain or our Basket Worldchampioship, I mean, as GEORGE VECSEY wrote in his article in the New York Times, published June 30, 2008
"A Team, and a Country, Finally Unite as One"

This victory has sent to many spanish politicians -nationalist politicians mainly-a clear warning: ¡Somos españoles y estamos orgullosos de serlo!

From Timesonline.com

Spain were a pleasure to watch and gentlemen too!
Glad the balance of European football has shifted - it's the first time in years I've seen a team win that truly deserved to.
Torres - get back to Merseyside and do that next season! Why not bring some friends?...
Barney, Liverpool, UK

The best team won the tournament, playing the best football from defence to attack, and the best striker in Europe scored the winner.
Football is the champion.
Thank You Spain!
P Flannery, Glasgow

Great end to a great tournament. Germany better than against Turkey, especially first 10 mins of each half, but Spain very superior. They could have scored 5, while goalie Casillas had a really boring game. Feel sorry for Michael Ballack, but Spain deserved to win the match & the cup. Viva Espana!
Mike, High Wycombe, UK

Finally, UEFA Team of the Tournament:

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Edwin van der Sar (the Netherlands).

Defenders: Bosingwa (Portugal), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Carlos Marchena (Spain), Pepe (Portugal), Carles Puyol (Spain), Yuri Zhirkov (Russia).

Midfielders: Hamit Alt?ntop (Turkey), Luka Modric (Croatia), Marcos Senna (Spain), Xavi Hernandez (Spain), Konstantin Zyryanov (Russia), Michael Ballack (Germany), Cesc Fabregas (Spain), Andres Iniesta (Spain), Lukas Podolski (Germany), Wesley Sneijder (the Netherlands).

Forwards: Andrei Arshavin (Russia), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Russia), Fernando Torres (Spain), David Villa (Spain).

¡Saludos para todos!

? How about Sergio Ramos? He was the real difference. Spain played like Barcelona, but Barca lacks Ramos to show same result. Best defender of the cup, possibly the best player. That's the first time I ever saw Spaniards with a good defense; they always have immaculate midfielders and fairly goos strikers, but suffer because of the weak inattentive defense. That was the first time Spain had good defense, and Ramos was the true difference. I am a Barcelona fan, so u know what it means if a Barcelonista praises a Real Madrid player.
