The Washington Post reports that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama (pictured) received a discount on his home loan that saved him roughly $300 per month: "Shortly after joining the U.S. Senate and while enjoying a surge in income, Barack Obama bought a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion in an upscale Chicago neighborhood. To finance the purchase, he secured a $1.32 million loan from Northern Trust in Illinois." More: "The freshman Democratic senator received a discount. He locked in an interest rate of 5.625 percent on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, below the average for such loans at the time in Chicago. The loan was unusually large, known in banker lingo as a 'super super jumbo.' Obama paid no origination fee or discount points, as some consumers do to reduce their interest rates. Compared with average terms offered at the time in Chicago, Obama's rate could have saved him more than $300 per month." http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laland/2008/07/wapo-obama-got.htmlUPI leads with reaction from the Obama campaign: "Campaign officials and the financial institution involved say terms Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., received on his Chicago home mortgage were proper." ........................M an... o... man.... LOL...

Whoops, I better call my son-in-law and inform him he's perhaps a crook. At about the same period he obtained a mortgage with a nice discount because he worked at the time for Citi-Bank and they gave employees a nice discount on loans. Of course a year or so later, he was a part of a "downsizing", but maybe he's some sort of crook because he still has that discounted mortgage with, fortunately for he and my daughter, by almost two points, a lower rate than Obama's. BFD, Reaganite. Daily I'm personally becoming convinced your tag line is maybe very appropriate. I hear though that Cindy McCain is paying up and their CA home on the coast, (did they miss a discounted mortgage?) is no longer in default for unpaid taxes. Don't forget to remind me you're not a McCain supporter. Frankly, I'm far more interested in that questionable campaign loan McCain got from some of his supporters and contributors that the FEC is also questioning, but because Bush will only appoint Republicans and the Senate won't except a totally GOP FEC, remains unresolved.

Sounds to me like Obama is pretty shrewd at economic planing...something McBush has never had to do and freely admits he knows little about. Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention Bonzo.

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/06/10/video-obama-on-countrywide-finance-in-april/Barack Obama called out Countrywide by name on the campaign trail during the primaries. He particularly criticized the company’s CEO for his excessive compensation and more generally “infecting the economy and helping to create a home foreclosure crisis,” which he linked not only to the 2 million who lost their houses but to school districts that couldn’t purchase supplies and pay teachers. This is the same CEO who gave Johnson his sweetheart deal. Obama’s aides also criticized Clinton’s then-campaign strategist, Mark Penn, for giving PR advice to the company. Now the man Obama has entrusted with what he has called the most important decision of his campaign is wrapped up in Countrywide and tied to the CEO. There are lots of unanswered questions about the Johnson deal, though no evidence as yet that he did anything wrong. But the Obama standard isn’t wrongdoing. It’s mere connection to the company. By that standard, this is bad news.

Obama got a discount because sometimes people with higher incomes get discounts on their mortgage loans.
That's the entire story.
This is just as "scandalous" as General Clark's "outrageous" observation that flying planes isn't much of a qualifier for high public office.
Yes my friends, your "liberal media" in action once again...

He did not have a "Higher Income" He got the discount because he was a a congressman. He would have to release his fica score history to see if he got it because he had a perfect Fica score.
This is not just a Jumbo loan this is called a Super Super Jumbo.. There is not real rate discount on one of these.. Not to mention he did not make an extra Points payment which it is usually required to get a discount.. he paid ZERO closing costs ... again unheard of with a super super jumbo...

Please feel free to point out where I called you a racist? All I did was point out that you are pretty much the only person on IAP to make this claim. Your reading comprehension skills, or lack there of, make me doubt pretty much everything you post. If a simple post here is too much for you, I am sure a serious news article is way too much. Which could explain your fascination with Ann Coulter and her third grade writing...

No, Reaganite is using reversed, reverse psychology.
He pretends people call him a racist when he criticizes Obama because most of the tripe he brings up here isn't that big of a deal. So to defend his ridiculous posts, he says other people aren't bringing it up because they're afraid they'd be called racists too.
So even though Obama has never even mumbled such an accusation or made this campaign about his blackness, Reaganite will do it for him...
... and look like an idiot doing that. But hey, what else is new?
