Now that russia has proved to the world it is no longer willing to sit on the sidelines, Nato is presented with a unique opportunity to solve several of the worlds big problems. Invite Russia into Nato, and give them an offer they can't refuse.

Why would we invite Russia to that club of democracies?  It's bad enough that they're in the G8.

Russia will never enter NATO, because Russia doesn't want to be part of an alliance like that. Now NATO talks to Russia as equal. So why would Russian enter the alliance and loose all that...

NATO is incapable of solving problems. It can only create problems. Simply because now there are too many countries in it, with completely different agenda. For example. Germany, Greece , Turkey are having bussiness with the Russian while most former Warsaw treaty countries are tottally hostile against Moscow.

Let's not forget another purpose of NATO...the increase exportability of US defense products and systems solutions.

The precedences are almost similar to those before WWII started: on one side Britsh Empire headquartered England now shifted to U.S. The other side Germany+Japan, Russia somewhere else waiting to take Germany side.

Today: declining British Empire, aka U.S. struggling for supremacy on one side. The other side: still Russia, somewhere else again, China a new big boy eager to enter the race. Plus, don't forget some old pals Japan, Germany, deep inside their harts thinking about something else that you might think, waiting the right time to take, guess which side  Smiley

The top two buyers of US defense system solutions are the UK and KSA...not Poland and Czech.

That sounds like a lot of wishful thinking.
