I have +32 / -10. Only in a pissy world like this one where 25 year old programmers are making more than teachers, or where people who kill are worshiped more than the ones who save lives, (etc. etc.), does my +32/-10 make any sense. It's freakin embarrassing.
If I came onto this forum as a newbie and saw that, well if it weren't for the skull avatar I'd be thinking I was talking to Ned Flanders....or maybe Bill O'Reilly.

I agree. I don't take it seriously either.  But some posters on here get affected by it. We have our fair share of sensitive soul members and lurkers. I do think though that the serial smiters could adopt a more generous attitude to the newbies |

I have been that sensitive soul member before and have been on boards where I was very bothered by this and what I had as a score, it annoyed and bothered me tremendously. Then I had to step back and realize that this is the internet.... it's not who we are and I just needed to relax about the whole thing.

This is a really good philosophy to have. I am pretty much the same, and what happens on the internet makes no difference to my life whatsoever. But, it annoys me that people get smited purely out of spite, and you get someone like Zee Lee who puts so much time and effort into his posts having 80 smites, or a new poster having 2 smites after 1 single post.It doesn't seem right to me. I just wonder about the motivation of serial smiters.  |

This thing it's like a kind of respect. The more smites you collect the more respect you get.
The same with my 16 years old Honda, dented, rust spots, fenders missing, paint traded, all the works...When I drive that, nobody dares to stare at me, when side by side at stop lights.
If I drive my other car, almost brand new, spotless, clean, economic, I got all the looks one can possible wish and not wish.
That's why I love my old car, I'll never get rid of it.
