I don't think so. Russia is a dictatorship, what were the chances of having free speech there?

I don't know what century were you born, but you might want to learn a little bit more about that.
I'm not saying that Russia is a nice place, but you were thinking about China, maybe?

I think you live in yuppie land if you actually believe that Russia is a democracy. Last elections, Putin got 99.3% of the votes in Chechnya, with 99.2% of participation of the electorate. At least those are the official numbers, but obviously the government just made up that data, just like they did on the communist regime. Or do you actually believe that 99.2% of the Chechnyan electorate participated on elections and that 99.3% of those, voted to Putin?

Come on, it was 101% predictable Putin would make a dictatorship out of Russia , if you know his career on KGB and FSB (one of the successor agencies to the KGB).

I am living in a twilight zone. Your argument sounds valid enough, but then, take into consideration how Bush came to power with the Florida votes.

Which way is the right way?

Yes, Bush tampered with some electronic voting machines both in 2004 and in 2000, but that's nothing in comparison with Russia's tactics when it comes to elections. AFAIK,, you never have had a 99.2% of turnout on a whole state, nor have 99.3% voted to the same party (this consideration might change if you feel dems=reps haha). Anyway, I'm spanish. I mean, I'm european not american so I feel save to cricticize your country too  Grin

What's up with you, guys?
Georgian leader Saakashvili won the election by backslide, 96% and it was internationally recognized as the greatest achievement of democracy ever!
Why Russia cannot do the same?
