Affordable by whose standard's?? Certainly not the Clintons'...We need HFA as they do in europe -- no lines, no bills...no hassle. "Affordable" is bullshit -- it just means they'll make it a law so everyone who *can* afford it *has* to buy it.

Then you discriminate..... you can't do that in this day and age b/c of political correctness. Even Canada has been spending much time looking at the European way of presenting health care and has apparently been looking at adopting some of their policies and procedures. I mean the health care that Canada has right now is crap, I mean we all get health care we are not discriminated against, yet the wait times to get in for surgeries is astronomical.

that's pretty much what we have now -- those who can afford it, have access to better health care. "Affordability" is a completely subjective point of view. What is "affordable"? $100/month, $300/month? |

Subsidies to reduce costs are at least a necessary transition toward some form of superior medical care. Do not expect perfection. |

Sure, but letting the politicians get away with "Affordable" in their solution makes me think that we'll never get free healthcare.

Had a conversation with a local proprietor tonight about the sad state of one of our local hospitals...complete with 3 hour waits, mis-managed and mis-diagnoses, and a anti-biotic-resistent staph infection floating around the building to boot.
Luckily, I am covered at the one down the street, that actually helps people.
I dread the day I'll pay out of pocket to see the same doctors I have now, 'cause I ain't going to set foot in that staph infested bldg they call "Dominican".

How much we spend on health care is in direct proportion with national income, and in the UK they spend significantly less, but the difference in care and life expectancy is only marginal. The idea is that if the health care system was more subsidized, the government would only exert influence but not control. If it where heavily regulated, it would cost and cause an even more bureaucratic inefficiencies. |

I think it is very hard for people to get past the fact that the government will be handing over money to insurance companies but then again what else is new these days. Energy, farming, education...health care is just the next in line for government handouts. |
