i got the split keyboard as recommended by my physical therapist. ALso, keeping the mouse close by. I have a rotator cup/cuff? injury from 14 years of mouse. Also a big chair with a head rest for computer use.

Try a heat pack instead of the ice pack.  One of those you heat in the microwave.

My sister is a nurse, she says the brain can only read one signal at a time.  If you use heat, it superimposes a signal and you feel less pain.  Also relaxes the muscles.
