I value life and hate abortion, and ANYONE democrat, Liberal, conservative, republican ANYONE who choses to have achild knowing the hard road ahead to me is person of good character when it comes to THAT decision.
Do you really think I canre if they are a liberal or not? Seriously? jeeze you are clueless.
For what it is worth, I really do think you care if they are liberal or not. I believe if Joe Biden had a child with Down's Syndrome you wouldn't care less and would not look at him any differently than you do right now. Tell me I am wrong.
You see, this is the main problem with a political party using issues like Marriage, Abortion, Religion, and Family Values to win elections. You get contradictions. Big ones. Yes, you have Sarah Plain who appears to embody everything that is important to values voters - she is happily married to an apparently great husband with a lot of kids, she has a son active in the military, she is a hockey mom who clearly places family first, she obviously lives her pro-life beliefs, and she is a religious Christian woman who is very active in her church.
In short, she is a values voter's wet dream. Her running mate and the man at the top of the ticket, however, cheated on his first wife numerous times before eventually abandoning her and their 3 children together for a younger and more attractive drug addicted sugar-momma who could advance his political career. Consequently, as a values voter, how is it possible to vote for Sarah Palin but not John McCain? Or, how can you be beside yourself with disgust over Bill Clinton's infidelity but willingly overlook John McCain's?
The bottom line is you can't. Or, at least, not morally. Nonetheless, leaders of the political movement for Family Values do it all the time. Conservative leaders like Dr. James Dobson is practically coming all over the front of his pants with excitement for John McCain's V.P. pick, but chooses to consciously ignore the fact that McCain himself has lived a personal life that stands against almost everything "Focus on the Family" is trying to promote.
Therein lies the problem with one party claiming to be the party of the "Moral Majority" or of "Values Voters" and with trying to show people that your party places more importance on Family, or Morals, or Religion than the other party. Because they don't. Neither party can claim that. Yet Republicans continue to try and try and try, and sadly they continue to fail and fail and fail.
So for you to say you respect Palin for her demonstrated Family Values and the importance she places on family is false, because if it were true, you would equally disrespect John McCain for his lack of demonstrated Family Values. Like many people, your respect and loyalty is for the Republican brand itself and not any particular member within it. That is clear as day.
