Besides fancy players and hard hits, I actually enjoy football for the strategy, like many other games.  Madden's Head Coach series sometimes is just as good, and maybe even better, than Madden 09 so you don't have to deal with hail Mary types to Randy Moss (or lesser equivalent receivers) and super-human running backs. (Westbrook)

An interesting article in the NYtimes sports magazine play has some interesting, more insightful comments on the game that is beyond what most sports fans would consider an "interesting conversation."

All I usually end up with arguing Football is whether or not a player or team sucks or not, and sometimes you get people who don't know what they are talking about, people who don't know they don't know what they are talking about, people who know what they are talking about but don't know they know what they are talking about, people who memorize what they see on PTI, and those who have, for some reason, memorized player statistics.  A larger growing trend has been the latter.  I think fantasy football is the culprit.

I didn't really find this informative.

Players are bigger and cornerback is a hard position. Was this confidential information?

I was going for insight.  Most of the stuff is already known.

Like NFL players hit harder now than later.

Duh.  But I never thought of the physics aspect of it.
