Well,... there are some jews which I met in the real life, who thought I was jewish or, to be more exact (they are jews themselves you know) that I *might* be jewish or who are wondering whether I'm jewish. Yes.
But I'm not the typical "jewish type", had I to be jew, I would be the north european with heavily mixed blood, one. I couldn't pass for the president of Israel, realy.
And it's even more surprising that nobody in my family as far as our genialogic tree goes, has ever been jewish... or from another non european christian catholic religion.

But you are right, the appearance is not what matters. Look Dayan looks like a typical story-book jew and he is a christian american of armenian descent.
