I know it's easy to ask questions to a bunch of people and simply show the stupidest people you can find and put them on camera. These shows are usually done by a European host which is then shown to a European audience, making America look like a bunch of ignorant, brainless hicks. Abraxas, my country is quite loyal towards US compared to most of Europeans but still if there is some American shown it must be some down clown ( down from down syndrome),,, it simply cannot be everyone picks the silliest Americans,,, it's just the smartest are rare to find,,, you know better ,,,
i mean tell me any other country when students come and kill their class mates? show me other country where ratio of rapists and serial killers are as high as in US? ok half of the world is not "democratic" and hide details but you can't say Northern Europe or Canada are not democratic... this is it,,,
Moreover most of Europeans are able to communicate at least on two languages, most of Americans barely speak their own,,,

Stupidity on display => those pesky Europeans are responsible. Check your family tree Abraxas, you must be one of us. If this were a one time occurence, you would have a point, but these things come up ALL the time and in greater volume after September 11th. I don't have "beef" with Europeans and actually want to move to the UK after I retire (though, only being 20 years old, I have some time to think about it) so I assure you, I'm not infected with the nazi-like nationalism I see some people infused with. But my point is that *I* know no one this stupid and to reflect the US like this just makes me furious. I mean, I don't see these shows done with Americans doing things in this vane. That's all I'm sayin'. |

Save your breath Abraxas, unfortunately this is not going to change any time soon.
There is appears to be a huge anti-American sentiment in Europe (and elswhere) right now which has fed fire to the feeling of superiority over Americans which was already there. So, these types of shows no this is the sort of thing their audiences want to see, as it feeds into the anti-american sentiment, and the feeling of superiority. Frankly, America helps out by having a vast supply of hicks for these folks to find and manipulate with leading questions. Now, you and I, having grown up here, know that these hicks, while vast in number, are, as a percentage of total population negligable. As reasonable people, we also realize that the US has no particular monopoly on them either.
Forget telling that to the Europeans, it is much more fun to assume that everyone in the US is a hick, that way they can feel better about themselves.
Do not fall into the trap of judging them harshly for this behavior, we do it ourselves as well. Why do you think Jerry Springer is so popular?
